Toprovideamoreaccuratereadingthevesselshouldmakebetween4to6runsinbothdirections

calculateLogSpeed.
TheLogspeedcanthenbeworkedoutbytakingthedistancetravelled(1nauticalmile)anddividing
itbytheaveragetimetakentoperformtherun.Theresultingcalculationisyouraveragespeedin
knots.
PerformingaSpeedRunCalibrationusingSOG
Ifahigherlevelofprecisionisrequiredthanthatachievedwiththe1PointSpeedCalibration
procedure,aSpeedRunCalibrationshouldbeperformed.TheSpeedRunCalibrationwillensure
thattheLogSpeedreadingisaccurateoverthevessel’sfullspeedrange.
Prerequisites:
SOGdatamustbeavailable.
Y ouwillneedtobeunderway,withsufficientspacetomaneuverunhindered.
Inordertoachieveaccurateresults,waterconditionsmustbecalmwithzerotideandzerocurrent.
Note:
SpeedRunCalibrationcannotbeperformedwhenthetransducerisconnectedusingaSpeedP od.
ThestepsbelowdetailthemethodofcalibratingspeedtransducersconnectedusinganiT C-5
orsmarttransducers(e.g.:DST800).
WithaFavoritepagedisplayed:
1.Pressthe
Menubutton.
2.SelectSet-up.
3.SelectTransducersSet-up.
4.Select Continue.
Thedisplaywillsearchforandshowalistofconnecteddevices.(i.e.iTC-5orDST)
