Routinecallsaremadeonchannel70usingthededicatedMaritimeMobileServiceIdentity(MMSI)
numberofthestationtobecontacted,selectingaVHFworkingchannelandsendingthecall.Both
radiosautomaticallyswitchtothechosenchannelforconversation.
RoutinecallscanalsobemadetogroupsWhengroupsofshipsneedthesameinformation(yacht
races,clubralliesetc.)aspecialgroup-callidentitycanbeusedtoenablerestrictedbroadcastcalls.

otransmitprecisepositiondata,theradiomustbeconnectedtoaGNSS(GPS)receiver.
Otherwise,regularmanualpositionupdatingisrequired.

Makingadesignateddistresscall
WhenmakingaDistresscallyoucanspecifythenatureofthedistress,ifGNSS(GPS)dataisnot
availableyoumustalsospecifyyourcoordinates.

FromtheDistresscallmenu: Menu>DSCCalls>Distresscalls
1.Selectadistresstypefromthelist.
IfyourradioisreceivingavalidGNSS(GPS)positionthenthedistresstypeandcoordinatesare
displayedon-screen,otherwiseyouwillbepromptedtoenteryourpositioncoordinates.
2.Ifprompted,enteryourpositioncoordinatesandlocaltimeusingthe
Rotaryknobor ChannelUp
and
ChannelDownbuttonsonaRaymichandsettoentertherelevantdetails.
3.Whencompletepressthe OKbutton.
4.Followthestepsfor‘MakingaDistressCall’totransmitthedistress.
Makingadistresscall
InanemergencyyoucanuseyourunittomakeanautomaticDSCdistresscall.
Withthespringloadedcoveropen:
1.Pressandholdthe DISTRESSbuttonfor3seconds.
