Whenselectingamountingsurfaceensure:
theproductwillbeadequatelysupportedonasecure,flatsurface.DoNOTmountunitsorcut
holesinplaceswhichmaydamagethestructureofthevessel.

Cableroutingrequirements

Wherenecessary,cablesupportsshouldbeusedtopreventstressonconnectors.
Electricalinterference
Selectalocationthatisfarenoughawayfromequipmentthatmaycauseinterference,suchas
motors,generatorsandradiotransmitters/receivers.
Powersupply
Selectalocationthatisascloseaspossibletothevessel’sDCpowersupply.Thiswillhelpto
keepcablerunstoaminimum.
RFinterference
Certainthird-partyexternalelectricalequipmentcancauseRadioFrequency(RF)interferencewith
GNSS(GPS),AISorVHFdevices,iftheexternalequipmentisnotadequatelyinsulatedandemits
excessivelevelsofelectromagneticinterference(EMI).
SomecommonexamplesofsuchexternalequipmentincludeLEDlighting(e.g.:navigationlights,
searchlightsandfloodlights,interiorandexteriorlights)andterrestrialTVtuners.
Tominimizeinterferencefromsuchequipment:
KeepitasfarawayfromGNSS(GPS),AISorVHFproductsandtheirantennasaspossible.
Ensurethatanypowercablesforexternalequipmentarenotentangledwiththepowerordata
cablesforthesedevices.
ConsiderfittingoneormorehighfrequencysuppressionferritestotheEMI-emittingdevice.The
ferrite(s)shouldberatedtobeeffectiveintherange100MHzto2.5GHz,andshouldbefitted
tothepowercableandanyothercablesexitingtheEMI-emittingdevice,ascloseaspossibleto
thepositionwherethecableexitsthedevice.
