3.4 Drive unit
Various types of drive unit are available to match to your steering system:
• Hydraulic pump - used to connect to hydraulic steering systems
• Mechanical linear - used in sailing vessels, the mechanical linear drive moves the
rudder directly by pushing the tiller arm or a rudder quadrant.
• Mechanical rotary - designed for power and sailboat systems that can be driven
from the helm position through a chain and sprocket e.g. cable and rod.
