The Red Sizzle electric fence energizer is designed for outdoor use in conjunction with an electric fence system to manage animal movement, either to keep them in or out of a designated area. The system works by delivering an electric shock to an animal when it completes the circuit between the fence and the ground. The fence itself consists of current-carrying wires and requires conductive (wet) soils to function effectively. For areas with poorly conductive soil or for managing wild animals, the manual recommends using several fence lines to enhance effectiveness.

Installation and Setup:

The energizer is available in solar-powered models. For solar-powered energizers, it is crucial to mount the device in an area that receives ample sunlight. Users should avoid handling PVC cords when the temperature drops below +5 degrees Celsius.

Connecting the ground system is a critical step. The manual recommends a minimum of three ground rods, each at least 3 feet deep. For areas with poor soil conditions (e.g., sand, gravel, dry soil), increasing the number of ground rods is advised. Alternatively, for rocky soil, adding clay to the soil can improve conductivity. Once the ground leads are connected, the fence leads are connected to the fence line using a dedicated fence lead. The device will automatically begin operation once connected to the power source.

Safety Warnings:

Several important safety warnings are highlighted in the manual. The electric fence energizer must not be located in fire-hazardous areas such as barns or stables. To prevent lightning damage, any fence lead entering a building must be fitted with a lightning diverter. The manual also states that while the device causes discomfort, it does not cause injury. It serves to train animals to recognize the perimeter limits. It is explicitly warned that children and individuals with heart conditions should not touch the fence system.

Solar Battery Maintenance:

Recharging: A fence energizer with a low battery can be recharged using a suitable 12-volt battery. A 12-volt adapter should be used for direct recharging.
Storage: Before storing the energizer when not in use, it should be fully charged.
Runtime: A fully charged battery can operate for up to 5 days without sun.
Battery Life: The internal battery typically lasts 3 to 4 years, with proper maintenance extending its life.
Extended Non-Use: If a solar fence energizer has not been used for two weeks, it should be recharged in sunlight for a minimum of 3 days to ensure normal operation.
Warning Signs: It is recommended to permanently attach at least one "Warning: Electric Fence" sign along the fence. These signs must be visible along public streets or highly trafficked areas.
Testing: A fence tester/voltage meter is recommended to determine the strength of the energizer and assist in finding faults within the electric fencing system.

Warranty:
