Overview

This document describes the Remington S-9600/S-9620 flat iron, a professional styling tool designed to straighten hair with high ceramic heat while reducing static and frizz.

Function Description

The Remington flat iron is an electrical appliance used for hair straightening. It features Next Generation Floating Ceramic Plates that deliver high ceramic heat for effective styling. The device is equipped with a digital control system, allowing for precise temperature adjustments from 300°F to 455°F. An ON/OFF button controls the power, and an LCD display shows the current temperature settings. The flat iron heats up quickly, reaching desired temperatures in as little as 15 seconds. For safety, it includes an automatic shutoff feature that turns off the unit after approximately one hour of inactivity. The device also has a hinge lock for convenient storage.

Usage Features

Getting Started: Before using, ensure hair is dry and free of tangles. Plug the styler into an electrical outlet and press and hold the ON/OFF button until the unit turns on and the LCD lights up.

Temperature Settings: The flat iron offers a range of temperature settings to suit different hair types:

  • 300°-340°F: Recommended for very fine, fragile, or damaged hair.
  • 360°-400°F: Ideal for normal, easy-to-straighten hair.
  • 420°-455°F: Suitable for thick, difficult-to-straighten hair.

Adjusting Temperature: Use the "+" and "-" buttons to adjust the desired temperature. During heat-up, the LCD display will pulse from 0 to 3 bars until the selected temperature is reached. Once the desired temperature is achieved, the pulsing stops, the correlating bars (1-3) are displayed, and the appliance will beep.

Turbo Mode: To activate Turbo Mode, press and hold the "+" button for about 2 seconds. This will instantly increase the temperature to the maximum 455°F setting. To decrease the temperature from Turbo Mode, press the "-" button, which will revert to the normal function mode.

Temperature Lock Mode: To lock the temperature setting, press and hold the "-" button for about 2 seconds. All keys will be locked, and a lock symbol will appear on the LCD. To unlock, press and hold the "-" button again for about 2 seconds; the lock symbol will disappear.

Straightening Process:

  1. Divide hair into manageable sections. Clip the upper layers out of the way and work with the underneath layers first.
  2. Test the styler on a small section of hair to determine the optimal temperature before styling the rest of your hair. If a higher setting is needed, adjust accordingly. If a lower setting is needed, adjust and allow a few minutes for the unit to cool.
  3. Take a small, taut section of hair, pulling it down and away from the scalp.
  4. Starting at the roots, clamp hair firmly between the plates and run the styler down the entire hair strand, from root to tip, in one smooth stroke. Avoid holding the styler in one area for too long to prevent hair damage.
  5. To create curves or flicks, rotate your wrist to turn the iron in toward or out away from your head as you run it down the hair strand.
  6. Repeat this process for all sections of hair, working from the underneath layers first, then the top and sides.
  7. Once styling is complete, press and hold the ON/OFF button to turn off the unit, unplug it, and allow it to cool before storing.

Hinge Lock: The professional flat iron features a hinge lock for easier storage. To lock the iron, squeeze the plates together and turn the switch to the locked position. To unlock, turn the switch to the unlock position. Do not heat the unit in the locked position.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning: Ensure the unit is unplugged and cool before cleaning. Use a damp cloth to clean the plates and the outside of the power handle. No other maintenance of the unit is required, as this appliance has no user-serviceable parts.

Storage: Unplug the unit when not in use and allow it to cool completely. Store it out of reach of children in a safe, dry location. Avoid wrapping the cord around the appliance, as this can cause premature wear and breakage, voiding the warranty. Handle the cord carefully, avoiding jerking, twisting, or straining, especially at plug connections. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons to avoid a hazard. Always store the appliance and cord in a moisture-free area and avoid storing it in temperatures exceeding 140°F (60°C).
