Do not remove your smoke detector unless replacing it with a new one. Never make
alterations to the smoke detector. Make sure it is in good working order.
Test the smoke detector before each trip and after prolonged storage. Without a
working smoke detector to alert you or others, the chances of dying if a fire breaks
out are extremely increased.
