F/A-18C HORNET (CF-18A) F/A-18C HORNET (CF-18A)
410. Squadron, Jim Belliveau, in Cold Lake gestaltet. In
jenem Jahr flog Captain Yanick „Crank“ Gregoire auf 31
Flugshows mit dieser Maschine.
The McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) F/A-18 Hornet is
an all-weather carrier-capable strike fighter jet, designed
to attack both ground and aerial targets. Designed in
the 1970s for service with the US Navy, the Hornet is also
used by the air forces of several other nations like
Canada and Switzerland.
The Canadian Air Force ordered 98 A models (Canadian
designation CF-188 or CF-18A) and 40 B models (desig-
nation CF-18B). Switzerland’s Luftwaffe purchased 26
F/A-18 C models and eight D models in 1996.
The 2007 demo CF-18 Hornet celebrated the 25th
anniversary of the Hornet in Canada. The paint scheme,
a stylized hornet integrated with the Canadian Air Force
Roundel on red and blue backgrounds was designed by
the 410 Sqn Graphic Designer Jim Belliveau at Cold Lake.
During that year, Captain Yanick „Crank“ Gregoire has
flown 31 air shows as the CF-18 demo pilot with this air-
craft.
