This document serves as an instruction and safety guide for the Rhino 50 and Rhino 75 Model Ground Blinds, designed for outdoor use, primarily for hunting or observation. The guide emphasizes safety, proper setup, take-down, and maintenance to ensure longevity and user safety.
Function Description:
The Rhino 50 and Rhino 75 Model Ground Blinds are portable, pop-up shelters designed to provide concealment and protection from the elements for outdoor enthusiasts, particularly hunters. These blinds are constructed with a camouflage fabric to blend into natural surroundings, offering a discreet vantage point. The design incorporates shoot-through mesh windows, allowing users to observe and shoot from within the blind while remaining hidden. The blinds are designed for quick setup and take-down, making them convenient for transport and use in various outdoor locations.
Usage Features:
Setup:
The setup process for the Rhino blinds is designed to be straightforward and quick.
- Preparation: Begin by removing ground stakes and fiber poles from the carry case.
- Unfolding: Take the blind out of its backpack. The blind features a pop-up design; hold one of the three steel ring sets and allow the other two to pop open automatically.
- Laying Flat: Once the blind has popped open, unfold it and lay it flat on the ground.
- Raising the Blind: To raise the blind, take hold of a corner and place your foot on the bottom section. Then, lift the top side up.
- Entering the Blind: Lift the blind over your head so you are standing inside it as it fully opens up.
- Securing the Blind: After standing the blind upright, insert the fiber poles (for R75 model only) and use high-wind tie-downs and ground stakes to secure the blind firmly to the ground.
Roof Poles (R75 Only):
The Rhino 75 model includes two fiber poles specifically designed to arch the roof, providing additional structural support and shape. To install them:
- Insert one end of each pole into opposite pockets located inside the blind. These pockets are found next to the bottom corner of each window.
- The poles will cross at the peak of the roof.
- Secure the poles to the blind using the tie straps provided at the peak of the roof.
Shooting and Observation:
The blinds feature shoot-through mesh windows. For optimal arrow flight when using broadheads:
- Fixed Blade Broadheads: Use only fixed blade broadheads when shooting through the mesh. Expandable broadheads may prematurely open, causing damage to the mesh or affecting accuracy.
- Alignment: Align the blades of the broadhead with the fletching of the arrow for the best arrow flight through the mesh.
Safety Precautions During Use:
- No Heaters: Do not use heaters inside the blind. Un-vented fumes can cause sickness or death.
- Fire Hazard: The product is not fireproof. Never expose the blind to any open flame.
- Firearms: Do not shoot through the mesh with a firearm. Sparks or flames from the muzzle could ignite the material.
- Children: Do not allow children to play with the product without adult supervision.
- Suffocation Risk: Do not allow material to cover your face, as it can cause suffocation.
- Open Flames: Do not allow anyone to use lighted candles, matches, or other sources of fire near the product.
- Cooking/Smoking: Do not cook or smoke inside the tent.
- Flammable Liquids: Do not store flammable liquids inside the tent.
- Campfires: Build campfires downwind and several meters away from the tent. Ensure campfires are fully extinguished before leaving or sleeping.
- Lanterns/Heaters: Exercise extreme caution when using fuel-powered lanterns or heaters inside the tent. Use battery-operated lanterns whenever possible. Do not refuel lamps, heaters, or stoves inside the tent. Extinguish or turn off all lanterns before going to sleep.
Take-Down:
The take-down process is also designed for efficiency:
- Preparation: Before taking down, remove all ground stakes, tie-downs, and fiber poles.
- Lay on Side: Lay the blind on its side.
- Fold Sides: Fold each side of the blind over.
- Form "U" Shape: Take hold of the blind at the 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock positions, keeping your knuckles up and thumbs underneath. Roll the blind out away from your body; it will begin to form a "U" shape.
- Rotate: Once the "U" shape is formed, remove one hand from the steel ring and rotate it 180 degrees (right hand counterclockwise or left hand clockwise). You can also rotate both hands.
- Overlap and Tuck: Continue to roll the top of the blind over, overlapping the two steel bands closest to your body. Tuck the top section under so it overlaps onto the bottom half of the blind.
- Release Tension: At this point, you will feel less tension. Simply drop the rings to the ground.
- Pack Away: Place the folded blind in its carry case. Pack the ground stakes and high-wind tie-downs into their respective pouches.
Maintenance Features:
Storage:
- Dry and Clean: Store the blind in a cool, dry place, free of dirt and any debris, including native brush.
- Avoid Moisture: Never pack or store the blind wet or damp, as this can lead to mold or mildew.
Leak Prevention:
- Seam Sealer: To prevent any leakage, apply seam sealer to all seams.
- Silicone Spray: Use silicone spray on seams and sidewalls for added water resistance.
UV Light Warning:
- Fabric Degradation: Ultraviolet (UV) light can break down lightweight fabric fibers and synthetic materials, causing them to fade (discolor), lose strength, and eventually disintegrate.
- Extend Life: To extend the life of your Rhino Blind, avoid leaving it out in direct sunlight for prolonged periods. Whenever possible, set up your portable ground blind or accessory in a shady spot.
