IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
1. WHAT IS CARBON MONOXIDE?
Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless and tasteless poison gas that can be fatal when inhaled. CO blinds to the hemoglobin in the
blood and inhibits its capacity to carry oxygen. CO kills hundreds of people each year and injures many more because it is difficult to
be detected with the human senses. In high concentrations, CO can kill in minutes.

Why does my rientalert VST-WC588IH Carbon Monoxide Alarm sound frequently?
    • J
      Jill RossAug 11, 2025
If your rientalert Carbon Monoxide Alarm sounds frequently, even though investigations reveal no high CO levels, it could be due to several reasons. First, your unit might be set to the same ID as a nearby system; in this case, change the ID of your units, making sure to turn off power to all units before changing the switch positions. Wireless interference could also be the cause, so try moving the other units to a new location. Lastly, the alarm might be improperly located, so relocate it. If the frequent alarms continue, have your home rechecked for potential CO problems, as you may be experiencing an intermittent CO issue.

What to do if not all rientalert VST-WC588IH devices produce an alarm signal when one is tested?
    • C
      carrie62Aug 17, 2025
If not all alarms/accessories produce a signal when one rientalert Carbon Monoxide Alarm device is tested, it may be because the devices are not all on the same ID. Locate the 5-position dipswitch on the back of each unit and ensure that all corresponding switches are set the same. If an ID needs to be changed: remove power, press and hold the button for a minimum of 10 seconds, change the ID, and reapply power. Also, check that the battery is properly attached to the connector, as devices may not have power. Finally, there may be too much interference between units, so move the other units to a new location and try again, locating the wireless units as closely to each other as possible.
