Downloading the Database

Database Setup
To setup a PC database use the standard comma delimited text file.
Use any text editor or application to create a database file.
Use commas and quotes as field delimiters as shown in the sample on the next page.
A quote (“) cannot be part of the field datait is only a delimiter.
Each message field can contain up to 16 characters.
Database Record
There are 3 fields in a database record:
“01234567890512”, “GREEN BEANS”,“16oz $.99”
Each field is in quotes (“ ”) separated by commas (,).
Fields:
1. The first field is the key containing the data that is searched and matched to the scanned “data.”
(01234567890512 in sample)
2. The second field contains the message entered in the database file; it displays on the first row of the LCD
when the scanned barcode matches the database.
3. The third field contains a message in the database file; it displays on the second row of the LCD when
the scanned barcode matches the database.
(You can have many records (like the record above), stacked in a file. The start character for the file is an ASCII STX (hex
02), i.e. ALT-2. The end character for the file is an ASCII ETX (hex 03), i.e. ALT-3 )

Database Download
Step 1) Plug the cable (002-2979) into the serial communications port of an IBM
compatible PC/AT/386/486 computer.
Step 2) Plug the connector of the cable into the
D4000 SP1 unit.
Step 3) Turn on the D4000 SP1 by pressing the ON
