Spare Tire Storage
75

Move bolt to the side once it is loose Lower tire carrier to the ground and
remove tire
When sufficiently loose, the long bolts will swing to the side out of the slot they normally occupy in the tire carrier. Lower
the tire carrier by lifting the jack handle, and pull the spare tire out.
Jack up the vehicle using the jack and change the tire. Follow the instructions in the Sprinter manual for proper use.
Secure the tire carrier by putting the flat tire in it, using the banana lever and jack handle to raise it enough to reattach the
bolts, and tightening the nuts five or six turns after they make contact. You are compressing the tire, so the nuts will not
get tight on the bolts like a metal-to-metal contact will. Repair or replace the flat spare tire at your earliest opportunity, and
reinstall the good spare in the spare tire carrier.
