Woodworking machines are dangerous machines. The Robland machines have been equipped with the best
safety devices which have been developed in close cooperation with safety authorities of several countries. For
your safety use all safety devices properly and read the following instructions carefully.
•
Surface Planer (In Britain a bridge guard is provided on each surface planer)
The surface planer comprises a parallel safety device having a lip at the side of the guide: White surface pla-
ning, the workpiece is pushed under the lip end of the protector. A light pressure on the workpiece will lift the sa-
fety shielding. The workpiece is slided under the shielding while holding it down with the palm of the hand. As
soon as the workpiece extends 1O to 15 cm beyon'd the shielding, the operator may guide this end with the palm
of his left hand while pressing slightly the workpiece.
When planing a large workpiece thl;! safety shielding will automatically be shifted sideway. This is possible
due to the inclined shape of the lip or tongue.
The portior:i of the cutting shaft behind the guide must be covered completeJy. This is accomplished automa-
tically as a protecting plate is to be fixed behind the guide.
lf the machine should be made free of all obstructions in view of a different operation, the safety shieling can
•
be turned over easily.

Above the cutting shaft a safety shielding is installed which extends from the feed rol!. at the intake side and
which permits to install a dust extractor at the output. The Robland machines are also equipped with an anti-
kickback safety device. ' ·

Circular saw
Your machine is equipped with a riving knife. Be sure that this riving knife is adjusted so that its upper point
is positioned 3 to 5 mm below the upper point of the saw teeth.
A safety shielding as required by law can be brought easily in position or turned away in case of non-use. For
some countries it is sufficient to provide a protection guard mounted directly onto the riving-knife in.

Splndle men.eider, ·
This unit is provided with a safety guard which at the same time also acts as a guide. Adjust the upper and
side springs so that the workpiece is clamped toa degree that sliding there of is still possible without any hesita-
tion. For pressing the workpiece a pusher should be used.
For copying work or work directly on the shaft ; this means without the guide it is recommended to buy a
special guard which is referenced with SF. This can be obtained from your Robland dealer. For the use thereof,
please consult the instructions enclosed therewith.
Use herefore oil SAE 30.
For copying work a special safety kit must be used which is available as an option at your Robland dealer.

J Important
A smooth table surface is necessary fora good operation during planing. Therefore apply from time to time a
silicone product on the planing tables. For working long workpieces use a rolling table which is adjustable in
height to support the workpiece.
