Insert a new lancet
drum, white end first,
until it clicks firmly
into place.
Slide the cap back on
until it stops by aligning the notch on
the cap with the notch on the finger
pricker.
Caring for the Finger Pricker
Clean and disinfect the finger pricker
regularly to prevent the transmission of
infection. Follow these guidelines carefully
to clean and disinfect without damaging
the finger pricker.
When to clean and disinfect the
Finger Pricker
• At least once a week
• When there is blood on the finger
pricker
• Before allowing anyone else to handle
the finger pricker, for example, if
someone is assisting you.
w WARNING
To avoid damaging the finger pricker:
• Do not dip the finger pricker and cap
in any fluids.
• Use only water for cleaning and 70 %
isopropanol for disinfecting.
NOTE
• Clean the finger pricker and cap
before they are disinfected to remove
blood and dirt.
• To clean and disinfect the finger
pricker and cap you need lint‑free
cloths, water and 70 % isopropanol.
Cleaning the Finger Pricker and
Cap
1. Remove the cap and lancet drum from
the finger pricker.
2. Dampen a cloth with water.
3. Thoroughly wipe the outside only of the
finger pricker.
Thoroughly wipe the inside and outside
of the cap.
4. Dry the finger pricker and cap with a
dry cloth.
Disinfecting the Finger Pricker and
Cap
1. Remove the cap and lancet drum from
the finger pricker.
2. Clean the finger pricker and cap.
3. Dampen a cloth with 70 % isopropanol.
4. Thoroughly wipe the outside only of the
finger pricker for 2 minutes.
Thoroughly wipe the inside and outside
of the cap for 2 minutes.
5. Place the cap back on the finger pricker
and wrap the finger pricker in the
dampened cloth for
8 minutes.
6. Unwrap the finger pricker and let it air
dry.
