The eye diagrams are a superposition of repetitively sampled waveforms, which have a
length of about 1 bit.
The waveform display style must be set to vectors: "Menu" > "Settings" > "Display" >
"Signal" > "Waveform style" = "Vectors".
To obtain optimized settings for an eye measurement, use the "Autoset" function that is
provided on the right side of the "Eye" tab.
The following characteristic values can be determined:
Eye width 3σcrossing23σcrossing1
Tcrossing1 Tcrossing2
3σbase 3σtop
Eye
height
Eye top
Eye base
Vcrossing
Figure 8-10: Basic eye diagram characteristics
Eye top = Mean of the upper vertical histogram
σtop = Standard deviation of the upper vertical histogram
Eye base = Mean of the lower vertical histogram
σbase = Standard deviation of the lower vertical histogram
Tcrossing = First and second mean of the horizontal histogram
σcrossing = Standard deviation of the horizontal histogram
