Compatibility
The R&S SMW is code compatible with the R&S SMU as far as it is possible.
To allow you to use your existing scripts, modify the answers to the requests
*IDN? and OPT?.

Hostname Syntax
From FW version 3.20.200.xx , the computer name (hostname) syntax for the
R&S SMW has changed.
Note, that a "Factory Preset" resets the computer name. Depending on the instal-
led firmware version, the computer name can change compared to the past.
Example:
The default hostname of an R&S SMW with a serial number 100007 is
SMW200A-100007 (former syntax rssmw200a100007).
The modification applies to the R&S SMW, it does not affect instruments of the
R&S SMU family.

Speeding up the development
The R&S SMW introduces several new features to simplify your development task,
like writing a remote script.
– Indication of the complete SCPI command string corresponding to a manual
selection
Example: Finding out the SCPI command for setting a Marker2 delay of 123
chips in the 3GPP FDD standard
Open the context menu for the parameter (tap and hold) and select "Show
SCPI command" to get the complete string.
