7.3 Configuring RF Frequency and Level
The simplest form of the RF signal is a continuous wave (CW) of constant frequency
and amplitude. Such an unmodulated signal transmits the information without varying
the carrier signal as with a modulation, for example. The RF signal is defined by its fre-
quency, level and phase.
You have various possibilities to the set the RF frequency and level ...
Since frequency and level are the core parameters of the RF signal, you have several
options to adjust these parameters:
●
Select either the underlined label or , or the appropriate entry field in the sta-
tus bar of the touchscreen and enter the target value directly via the on-screen key-
pad.
●
Select the underlined label
in the block diagram opens the RF block menu, and
you can access the frequency and level setting dialogs, and switch RF on or off.
●
Press the FREQ or the LEVEL key at the front panel and enter the value, either via
the touchscreen, the keypad at the front panel, or the rotary knob.
●
Set the value in the associated settings dialog, see Chapter 7.3.1, "RF Frequency
Settings", on page 430 and RF Level Settings .
For a detailed description on entering data, refer to Chapter 2.5.5, "Entering Data",
on page 114.
To activate the RF signal output, see Chapter 7.2.1, "Activating RF Signal Output",
on page 429.
