447User Manual 1175.6632.02 ─ 16
"Variable"
(applies to latest SSYN assembly 1412.6667.02)
Selects that the external reference signal has an arbitrary frequency,
within the permissible range from 1 MHz to 100 MHz.
The following options are available:
The input signal is used as the reference signal for downstream
instruments and routed directly to the output
10 MHz reference signal is derived form the reference input
See Reference Frequency Output.
"10 MHz"
(applies to latest SSYN assembly 1412.6667.02)
Selects 10 MHz external reference frequency.
"5, 10, 13 MHz"
(applies to SSYN assembly 1141.4220.02 (predecessor))
Sets the frequency corresponding to the signal at the reference input.
Remote command:
[:SOURce]:ROSCillator:EXTernal:FREQuency on page 1104
Variable Reference Frequency
(applies to latest SSYN assembly 1412.6667.02)
Sets the variably settable external reference frequency.
Remote command:
[:SOURce]:ROSCillator:EXTernal:FREQuency:VARiable on page 1104
Reference Frequency Output
(applies to SSYN assembly 1412.6667.02)
Selects the signal that is to be output as frequency reference for downstream instru-
ments.
"Same As Reference Input"
Passes the assigned reference frequency to the output directly.
"10MHz Derived From Ref. Output"
Derives a signal with 10 MHz frequency from the reference input and
forwards this signal to the output.
Remote command:
[:SOURce]:ROSCillator:OUTPut:FREQuency:MODE on page 1105
Synchronization Bandwidth
Selects the synchronization bandwidth for an external reference signal with 5, 10 or 13
MHz.
"Narrow"
The synchronization bandwidth depends on the configuration of the
instrument:
Instruments equipped with option R&S SMW-B22
The synchronization bandwidth is a few Hz. The internal 10 MHz
OCXO is synchronized to the external signal. This setting is rec-
ommended if the phase noise of the external signal is worse than
the phase noise of the internal OCXO.
Instruments without option R&S SMW-B22
The synchronization bandwidth is approximately 20 Hz.
