33User Manual 1175.6632.02 ─ 16
The functionality of the "Fading" block builds a major part of the signal processing in
the baseband domain. However, the corresponding description is not a scope of this
user manual.
For a description, see the user manual "Fading Simulator".
For comprehensive information on each of the provided software options, refer to the
corresponding user manual. The user manuals of all supported digital standards are
provided on the R&S SMW product page.
Applying I/Q Vector Modulation and Impairing the Signal
The "I/Q Mod" functional block is the access point to the functions of the I/Q modulator.
You can define the input signal, influence the modulation parameters, and impair the
generated signal. For details, see Chapter 6, "Applying I/Q Vector Modulation",
on page 415.
Configuring the Signal in the RF Domain
In the R&S SMW, you can further modify the RF characteristics of the generated I/Q
signal (the signal at the outputs of the I/Q modulator). The "RF" block provides access
to the group of the related settings.
Available are different functions, like signal generation in CW mode, in list and sweep
mode, applying of analog modulations, accessing the reference and local oscillators
settings, or applying user corrections and power control. Refer to Chapter 7, "Configur-
ing the Signal in the RF Domain", on page 426 for detailed description.
Monitoring Signal Characteristics
To learn how to use the built-in graphic functionality ("Taskbar > Graphics (wave
icon)") and other functions provided for control and surveillance functions, see the
Chapter 8, "Monitoring Signal Characteristics", on page 559.
File and Data Management
The front panel key SAVE/RCL provides direct access to the functions for storing and
loading of complete instrument settings. Refer to Chapter 10, "File and Data Manage-
ment", on page 619 to get familiar with the instrument's file system, the further file
management-related function, and the description of the HCOPY key.
General Instrument Functions
The general instrument functions are settings which do not directly affect signal gener-
ation. You access most of these settings via the front panel keys or the menus in the
taskbar and not by the function blocks in the block diagram.
The scope of Chapter 11, "General Instrument Functions", on page 656is:
●
the main functions of several front panel keys, like PRESET, SETUP, USER, INFO
●
the most function provided in the "Taskbar > System Configuration > Setup" menu
