Network and Remote Control Operation
The focus of the previous sections is the manual operation of the R&S SMW from the
touchscreen. You can operate the R&S SMW also from an external controller, tablet
PC of via remote control commands.
Refer to Chapter 12, "Network Operation and Remote Control", on page 702 for a
description of the prerequisites, the related instrument settings and for background
information on the remote control and remote operation topics.
The main scope of this section is:
The function provided in the "Taskbar > System Configuration > Setup > Remote
Access Setting" dialog
The SCPI recording function accessed via the context-sensitive menu
The function of the LOCAL front panel key
Remote Control Commands
Where applicable, the description of the provided functions and parameters includes a
link to the associated SCPI command. The comprehensive description of the provided
commands for remote control is provided in Chapter 13, "Remote Control Commands",
on page 766.
Troubleshooting and Error Messages
The R&S SMW indicates error situations or occurred problems by error messages. For
information on how to use the INFO key, on how to query detailed error information
and description of the error messages, refer to Chapter 15, "Troubleshooting and Error

1.5.2 Wideband Baseband Generator Related Settings and Descriptions
This description assumes a fully equipped Standard baseband R&S SMW, so that we
can explain all instrument concepts and show the possible configuration and settings. If
a particular function requires a special option, this option is stated in the list of the
required options. If your instrument is equipped with Wideband baseband generator,
some sections of this description are not relevant.
