You could press [ORCHESTRA/ORGAN] a third time (it
goes dark) to quickly select “Off” (no MIDI channel).
MIDI TX/RX Channel Bass
This parameter allows you to set the MIDI channel for
the bass buttons (i.e. all left-hand buttons that do
not play chords). Select “Off” if the bass section
should neither receive nor transmit MIDI data.
NOTE
See “MIDI TX/RX Channel Treble” for the setting procedure
using the treble registers and the [ORCHESTRA/ORGAN]
button.
MIDI TX/RX Channel Chord
This parameter allows you to set the MIDI channel for
the chord buttons when they are used to play the
selected accordion register. Select “Off” if the chord
section should neither receive nor transmit MIDI
data.
NOTE
See “MIDI TX/RX Channel Treble” for the setting procedure
using the treble registers and the [ORCHESTRA/ORGAN]
button.
MIDI TX/RX Channel Orchestra
This parameter allows you to set the MIDI channel for
the Treble section’s orchestral/organ part. Select “Off”
if the Orchestra/Organ section should neither receive
nor transmit MIDI data.
NOTE
See “MIDI TX/RX Channel Treble” for the setting procedure
using the treble registers and the [ORCHESTRA/ORGAN]
button.
MIDI TX/RX Channel Orch. Bass
This parameter allows you to define the MIDI channel
for the ORCH BASS part.
NOTE
See “MIDI TX/RX Channel Treble” on p. 48 for the setting
procedure using the treble registers and the [ORCHESTRA/
ORGAN] button.
MIDI TX/RX Channel Orch. Chord
This parameter allows you to define the MIDI channel
for the ORCH CHORD part.
NOTE
See “MIDI TX/RX Channel Treble” for the setting procedure
using the treble registers and the [ORCHESTRA/ORGAN]
button.
Basic MIDI Channel
This parameter allows you to set the basic MIDI chan-
nel. The “Basic Channel” can be used for selecting
Sets from an external MIDI device (using program
change numbers). Please see “Program Change num-
bers” on p. 64 for the program change numbers of
the Sets.
NOTE
See “MIDI TX/RX Channel Treble” on p. 48 for the setting
procedure using the treble registers and the [ORCHESTRA/
ORGAN] button.
Bellows Expression TX
The strength/speed with which the bellows is pressed
or pulled influences the sound – which corresponds
to an acoustic accordion’s response. This effect can
be translated into a MIDI message most external
instruments understand.
The MIDI standard provides a message (“control
change”) for remotely controlling the volume of an
external instrument: CC11. It is chiefly used for
expression purposes (similar to the way in which a
guitarist or organ player uses a volume pedal).
The FR-18 diatonic can manage expression messages
in the following ways:
■ Off
No expression messages are sent via MIDI.
■ On
Expression messages are sent via MIDI.
■ Right hand
Only the “right-hand” MIDI channels transmit expres-
sion messages.
