When Normal Cleaning Is Not Effective
Medium Cleaning
Perform the more powerful “medium cleaning” to solve a print head jam when the problems such as dot drop-
out are not cleared up by the normal cleaning (
P. 63, "Printing Tests and Normal Cleaning") occur.
Procedure
Perform a printing test.

When a printing test is completed, be sure to remove the media.

Check the group with dot drop-out by viewing the printing-test results.
With medium cleaning, only groups of the print head having dot drop-out are cleaned.
Press to choose the group of heads that
is not to be cleaned.
Press
to get rid of the group display.
Repeat this procedure to display the groups of only the
heads that require cleaning.
Only groups that is either A or B is displayed are objective for cleaning.
Note, however, that the medium and powerful cleaning consumes more ink than normal cleaning, and
too-frequent use may damage print heads themselves. Avoid using it more than necessary.
Printing-test results
If the Printing-test Results Are Dif-
cult to Interpret
Examine the results from dierent angles
in a well-lighted location. Take advantage
of reected light to enable visual checking.
