Most cameras meter

the Rolleiflex

measure
the lightfrom the most important
part
of the
subject.The metering
area may be seen in theviewfinder
as a

area.
This
selective metering system
allows
accurate
readings
to be takenfrom high
contrast
subjects

without
them beingunduly influenced
by excessive highlights.
At the same time the
acceptance
angle of the
metering is broad enough to
give
a
true read-
ing,
unlike somevery narrow
spot meterswhich are so
influenced
by minutevariations
as
to
give
an unsatis-
factory
result. In
practice
itwill befound that this
selec-
tive metering is
suitablefor thevast majority
of subjects.
For
the exceptions,
extra selectivity is very simple
and
is
achieved by use of the memory hold. This
enables any
specffic
measurement required to
be held in the memory
of the
cemera.
The basic
rule of selective uposure
evaluation applies.
With negativefilm
material
(colour
or black and white):
measure the shadows. With
colour slide material:
measure the highlights.
The Rolleiflex
SL 2000 F
also
has
thefacilityfor uposure
over-ride
by use of the control dialfor
exposure
compensation.
