USE O]IHE
TIUIII.EXPOSURE ]ACIIITY
Extremely interesting
effects can be achieved by the use of
the multi-exposurefacility.This is a
genuine
multi-
exposure
device and
any
number of images may be super-
imposed
on the
sameframe
in
perfect
co-ordination.
Another
effect may be achieved by
photographing
bright
subjects
under dark
conditions, e.g.fireworks at
night.
The shutter may be held openfor an extended
period
using the
"8"
and
"Memo"
settings in conjunction.
Correct exposure of multi-exposed subjects is determined
to a large extent by the type of
result required. Remember
that each exposurewill add to the latent image on the
film.Thus, fyouwish
to superimpose two
scenes
with
similar overall brightness,
yott
should
reduce
each indi-
vidual exposure by one stop
(i.e.
halve the
exposure)for
the resulting latent image to
produce
a negative or
transparenqt of the
correct
density. However ifyou
are
taking a number of totally separate luminous subjects
against
a dark background, then each exposure should
be correctfor
the
subject
in
question,
as separate images
on a black backgroundwill haye no additive effect.
Multi-exposures
may
also be
madewith the use of a
rapid electronicflash sequence
with the camera set on a
time exposure,
orwith the use of aflashgun
in the con-
ventionalfashionwith
the camera set to
multi-exposure.
Do notforget to set
the control
2I
back to
"SE"from
"ME" prior
to the
last
shot
in any sequence, so
that the
Jilm
transport
can be re-engaged. Shouldyouforget
to do
this,
you
moy re-engage the sequence by capping
the lens,
selecting
afast manual shutter speed,
setting the control
2l to
"SE"
and operating thdshutter
release. In this way,
the camerawill
be readyfor the next exposurewithout
loss of eitherJilm
or
picture.
