• Fit the retaining plate U from above in the groove in the
camshaft.
◆ Note: The retaining plate U mounting holes are
countersunk. The countersinking on the
plate holes must fit completely into the
holes in the seat on the head.
• Always use new M5x12 Allen screws I to secure the
retaining plate, tightening them up with an Allen wrench with
centering pin and applying LOCTITE 243 to the thread.
Service tool ☞ 3/8" Allen wrench

Torque wrench setting ☞ 6 Nm
Thermistor / outlet stud bolts - replace
• The water thermistor Q and its ring gasket are attached with
LOCTITE 243 and should be replaced (size 14 wrench) only
if defective.
Torque wrench setting ☞ 15 Nm
• When replacing the outlet stud bolts, make sure that the
threads protrude by 28 - 32 mm.
Torque wrench setting ☞ 10 Nm
• Remove thermostat cover.
• Take out the 2 M5 Allen screws W and the 2 washers, then
remove thermostat cover E, checking the flatness of the
contact surfaces.
Thermostat - check (Leonardo 120 only)
• Withdraw thermostat R with its gasket.
• After prolonged use, check the by-pass recess and thermostat
seat for deposits, cleaning if necessary.
◆ Note: Check thermostat in the following
circumstances:
• if the engine overheats,
• Inserire la piastra di ritenuta U dall’alto nella scanalatura
dell’albero a camme.
◆ Nota: I fori di fissaggio della piastra di ritenuta U
sono svasati. Le svasature dei fori della
piastra devono incastrarsi completamente
nei fori della sede della testa.
• Fissare la piastra di ritenuta montando sempre nuove viti
a brugola M5x12 I con chiave a brugola con spina di
centraggio, applicando LOCTITE 243 sulle viti.

Coppia di serraggio ☞ 6 Nm
Termistore / prigionieri per scarico — sostituzione
• Il termistore acqua Q con anello guarnizione è fissato con
LOCTITE 243 e va sostituito (chiave da 14) solo se è
difettoso.
Coppia di serraggio ☞ 15 Nm
• Alla sostituzione dei prigionieri per scappamento fare
attenzione che la sporgenza della filettatura sia di 28 - 32
mm.
Coppia di serraggio ☞ 10 Nm
• Rimuovere il coperchio termostato.
• Dopo aver tolto le 2 viti a brugola M5 W e 2 rondelle
rimuovere il coperchio termostato E, controllare la planarità
della superficie di contatto.
Termostato — controllo (solo Leonardo 120)
• Estrarre il termostato R con guarnizione.
• Dopo un uso prolungato controllare l’incavatura “by-pass” e
la sede del termostato da presenza di residui, pulire se
necessario.
◆ Nota: Il termostato deve essere verificato:
• se il motore surriscalda,
