• if the operating temperature of 70° C is
not reached.
• To check the thermostat, put it in a pan
of water and heat the water on a stove.
Check the temperature with a thermome-
ter.
• At a temperature of about 85° C the pin
should come out by X = 4 mm.
■ Caution: If thermostat does not reach this
temperature, it must be replaced.
• Check the valve spring Y and thermostat crown U.
◆ Note: When thermostat is closed (engine cold)
only the by-pass T should be open.
• Fit thermostat R with its gasket into the cylinder head.
• If necessary, apply LOCTITE 574 to the seal contact
surface on thermostat cover E.
Thermostat cover - refit
Leonardo: The water outlet pipe must be pointing towards
the valve cover.
Scarabeo: The water outlet pipe must be pointing towards
the ignition cover.
• Fit thermostat cover with 2 M5x12 Allen screws W and 2
washers.
Torque wrench setting ☞ 5 Nm
• The 5.5x16 screw I at the top (size 8 wrench) is for bleeding
the water circuit, and should be slackened only. Never
remove it completely.
Torque wrench setting ☞ 4 Nm
Valve cover
• Clean the valve cover Q, especially the ducts, to prevent
the evaporation of oil deposits after refitting, and check for
signs of damage on the cover.
• Check the gasket W for damage and lubricate it, if it is still
elastic.
• Clean the oil separatorE and check that it is not clogged up.

• Per controllo mettere il termostato in un
recipiente con acqua e riscaldarlo.
• Alla temperatura di ca. 85° C il perno
deve fuoriuscire di X = 4 mm.
■ Attenzione: Se questo valore non viene raggiunto,
sostituire il termostato.
• Controllare la molla valvola Y e l'archetto termostato U.
◆ Nota: Con il termostato chiuso (motore freddo) solo
l’incavatura “by-pass” T deve essere aperta.
• Inserire il termostato R con guarnizione nella testata.
• Se necessario, applicare LOCTITE 574 sulla superficie di
tenuta del coperchio termostato E.
Coperchio termostato — montaggio
Montaggio su Leonardo: Il tubo di scarico acqua è orientato
verso il coperchio valvole.
Montaggio su Scarabeo: Il tubo di scarico acqua è orientato
verso il coperchio accensione.
• Montare il coperchio termostato con 2 viti a brugola M5x12
W e 2 rondelle.
Coppia di serraggio ☞ 5 Nm
• La vite in alto 5,5x16 I (chiave da 8) serve per sfiatare il
circuito dell’acqua — solo allentarla. Non rimuovere mai
completamente.
Coppia di serraggio ☞ 4 Nm
Coperchio valvola
• Pulire il coperchio valvola Q , in particolare la scanalatura,
per evitare l'evaporazione di residui d'olio dopo il rimontaggio,
e controllare se il coperchio è danneggiato.
• Controllare se la guarnizione W è danneggiata, se è ancora
elastica, e lubrificarla.
• Pulire il separatore d'olio E e controllare il libero passaggio.
