• Position the piston pin P on the connecting rod small end
with the arrow P pointing toward the oil filter {. Press the
piston pin in as far as the first fitted circlip.
• Fit the second circlip in the same way. Hold the piston up
with your hand to avoid damaging the connecting rod eye.
■ Caution: Make sure that each circlip is properly
positioned in the piston groove and that the
bent part is coupled into the recess in the
piston.
• Remove the cloth after fitting the piston.
Cylinder - refit
• If they have been removed, re-insert the 4 M8x147.5 stud
bolts Q and E into the crankcaseW.
u Note: If the crankcase is new, the two stud bolts
E nearer to the water pump must be coated
with LOCTITE 574.
Torque wrench setting + 12 Nm
• Put the cylinder bottom gasket R in position.
u Note: The gasket must not protrude from the
crankcase and the cylinder bottom gasket
R must coincide with all the holes, so that
there will be no water leaks into the
crankcases in the cylinder base area.
• Check the fitted position of the 3 piston rings T. Their
openings must be offset at about 120° to each other.
u Note: The openings of the 2 oil control piston
rings must also be offset (by approx. 90°) to
each other.
• Lubricate the piston rings thoroughly and fit the larger-
diameter piston ring compressor Y above the piston.

• Posizionare il pistone P con la freccia P rivolta verso il filtro
olio { sull’occhio piede biella ed inserire lo spinotto fino al
primo fermo già montato.
• Montare il secondo fermo nello stesso modo. Bisogna
sostenere il pistone con la mano per evitare danneggia-
mento dell'occhio biella.
■ Attenzione: Fare attenzione che ogni fermo sia bene
posizionato nella gola del pistone e che la
parte piegata sia agganciata nell'incavo
del pistone.
• Dopo il montaggio del pistone rimuovere il panno.
Cilindro — montaggio
• Se precedentemente smontati, reinserire i 4 prigionieri
M8x147,5 Q e E nel carter W.
u Nota: In un nuovo carter i due prigionieri E vicini
alla pompa acqua devono essere incollati
con LOCTITE 574.
Coppia di serraggio + 12 Nm
• Posare la guarnizione base cilindro R.
u Nota: La guarnizione carter non deve sporgere
dal carter e la guarnizione base cilindro R
deve coincidere con tutti i fori affinché
nella zona della base cilindro non si
possano verificare perdite d’acqua nei
carter.
• Controllare la posizione di montaggio dei 3 segmenti T. La
loro apertura deve essere spostata di ca. 120° l ’una all’altra.
u Nota: Anche l'apertura dei 2 segmenti raschiaolio
deve essere spostata (di ca. 90°) l'una
all'altra.
• Lubrificare bene i segmenti e mettere lo stringifasce Y con
il diametro maggiore sopra il pistone.
