In an emergency situation, the engine
can be started without the safety lan-
yard installed on the engine stop
switch.
Follow the normal starting procedure.
Depress the engine stop switch and
keep it depressed until safety is
reached.
Reinstall a stop switch lanyard as
soon as possible. The operator should
always use the lanyard clip to start the
engine.

IIMMPPOORRTTAANNTT:: Your engine stop
switch can be effective only when in
good working condition. At each out-
ing, inspect the clips and lanyard for
cuts, breaks, or wear. Replace worn
or damaged parts.
Attach the stop switch lanyard clip on-
to a secure place on the operator’s
clothing or life vest — not where it
might tear away instead of activating
the engine stop switch.
