This document describes the RoyPow Golf Cart Lithium Battery, a product designed to replace lead-acid batteries in golf carts. The battery packs are engineered for safety and reliability, offering a drop-in replacement solution.
Function Description
The RoyPow Golf Cart Lithium Battery is a power source for golf carts, utilizing lithium-ion technology to provide a more efficient and reliable alternative to traditional lead-acid batteries. It features an integrated Cell Management System (CMS) that monitors and manages various aspects of the battery's operation to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Key functions of the integrated CMS include:
- Cell balancing: Ensures that all individual cells within the battery pack are charged and discharged evenly, which extends the overall lifespan of the battery.
- Battery voltage monitoring: Continuously tracks the voltage of the battery pack to prevent overcharging or deep discharging, both of which can damage the battery.
- Battery current monitoring: Monitors the current flowing in and out of the battery, helping to manage power delivery and prevent excessive current draw.
- Pre-warning for low capacity: Provides a warning when the battery capacity drops below 20%, communicated via RS485, allowing users to recharge before the battery is fully depleted.
- Battery temperature monitoring: An integrated temperature sensor monitors the battery's internal temperature to prevent operation outside safe temperature ranges, which can affect performance and safety.
The battery is designed for ease of use with a "MAIN SWITCH" button or external switch to turn it on and off. A green light indicates when the battery is powered on. To turn off the battery, the switch needs to be pressed and held for 3 seconds.

Usage Features
The RoyPow battery is designed for straightforward installation and operation.
- Drop-in replacement: The battery packs are designed to directly replace existing lead-acid batteries in golf carts, simplifying the upgrade process.
- External switch and meter: The system includes an external switch and a battery meter that can be installed on the golf cart's dash, providing convenient control and monitoring. The meter cable and external switch connect to corresponding connectors on the battery.
- Brake Resistor: An optional Brake Resistor is available to enhance safety and control during downhill conditions or frequent braking. This component helps maintain safe speeds and protects the battery system's health by dissipating excess energy.
- Clear indicators: A green light on the battery indicates when it is powered on.
Maintenance Features
While the manual does not detail specific user-performed maintenance tasks, the integrated CMS inherently provides features that contribute to the battery's long-term health and reduce the need for manual intervention.
- Automated cell balancing: The CMS actively balances cells, which is a critical maintenance function typically requiring specialized equipment for lead-acid batteries.
- Continuous monitoring: Voltage, current, and temperature monitoring by the CMS help prevent conditions that could lead to battery degradation or failure, thereby extending its service life.
- Low capacity warning: The pre-warning system for low capacity helps users avoid deep discharge, a common cause of damage and reduced lifespan for many battery types.
Installation Precautions for Brake Resistor:
- The resistor must be kept away from combustible materials.
- It should not be installed directly in the plastic battery compartment.
- Avoid direct contact with the resistor after use, as it can become hot and cause burns. It is recommended to fix the Brake Resistor on the metal frame at the bottom of the golf cart to prevent melting plastic or scalding passengers.
The RoyPow Golf Cart Lithium Battery aims to provide a reliable, safe, and low-maintenance power solution for golf carts, backed by advanced monitoring and protection features.
