Do you have a question about the RUSTGO 139 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document is a manual for the RUSTGO Manually Propelled Work Platforms, specifically models 139 and 195, and their accessories. The primary function of these devices is to provide a mobile, elevating aerial platform for workmen, designed for manual propulsion.

Function Description

The RUSTGO work platforms are designed to provide a stable and adjustable elevated workspace. They are manually propelled, meaning they are moved by human effort rather than an engine. The platforms can be raised and lowered using winches, allowing for adjustment to desired working heights. The design emphasizes adaptability to various job site terrains and conditions, with features for steering and leveling. The manual stresses that these are not material lifts and should not be used for that purpose. The platforms are intended for use by personnel and their tools, within specified load limits.

Usage Features

  • Manual Propulsion: Designed to be moved by human effort, making it suitable for job sites where powered mobility is not required or feasible.
  • Adjustable Height: Platforms can be raised and lowered using winches, with height adjustments in 4-inch (10 cm) intervals.
  • Steering: Features front and rear steering for maneuverability. The rear steering tongue must be locked down for towing.
  • Leveling: Spinner wheels on adjusting arms allow for plumbing the uprights and leveling the platform on uneven terrain.
  • Intermediate Levels: Optional intermediate level platforms can be added for additional working height or staging.
  • Extensions: 6ft. upright extensions and ladder extensions can be attached to increase working height. These should be installed after the main unit is set up.
  • Safety Features: Includes guardrails, toe boards, and safety pins for securing components. Decals provide warnings for electrocution hazards, load limits, and general safety instructions.
  • Towing: Designed for highway tow, with specific instructions for securing components and locking the rear steering tongue. Counterweights should not be on the unit when towing.
  • Winch Operation: Winches have a friction pad to prevent or lessen spooling of cables, but the notch system is the primary method of support. Operators must maintain a firm grip on the handle and ensure the pawl is engaged. Only one person should operate the winch when lowering platforms, and the operator should not be under the platform.

Maintenance Features

  • Regular Inspections: Daily, weekly, and monthly inspection checklists are provided, covering components such as brakes, tires, cables, sheaves, ladders, and structural welds.
  • Lubrication: Specific instructions for greasing inside lips of uprights, slide mechanism of the platform, and platform slide brackets.
  • Replacement Parts: Manufacturer recommends purchasing replacement parts through RUSTGO CO. to ensure product integrity.
  • Repairs: Repairs and adjustments should only be made by trained and qualified personnel.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: Provides a checklist for common issues related to raising/lowering platforms and towing problems, including checking for bent uprights, cable issues, and wheel alignment.
  • Decals: Important safety and maintenance decals are affixed to the unit, and the manual emphasizes reading and understanding them.
  • Storage: Safety pins for extensions should be stored on the extensions themselves, not on top of the uprights.
  • Design Modifications: RUSTGO Co. reserves the right to modify design features without obligation to incorporate new features into previously sold products.
  • ANSI/SIA A92.3-1990 Compliance: The RUSTGO Mobile Work Platforms are designed to meet this standard for manually propelled elevating aerial platforms.
