ASSEMBLY
ASSEMBLING THE TOOL
See Figure 3.
WARNING:
Never install, remove, or adjust the lower end of the tool
while the unit is running or with the battery pack installed.
Failure to stop the motor or remove the battery pack can
result in serious personal injury.
NOTE: This tool must be assembled in the trimmer position,
and not the edger position.
 Remove the battery pack if installed.
 Align the tab on the upper end of the tool with the slot on
the lower end of the tool.
 Depress the latches on each side of the upper end of
the tool.
 Insert the upper end of the tool into the opening on the
lower end of the tool. When the upper end of the tool is
fully seated, the latches will snap into place.
CAUTION:
Be careful when sliding the two ends together to avoid
pinching your hands or ngers.
NOTE: Once assembled correctly, the upper and lower end
of the tool should not separate when pulled. Repeat above
steps if pieces can be separated.
WARNING:
Failure to properly assemble the tool as describe above
could result in the tool separating and cause serious
personal injury.
ATTACHING GRASS DEFLECTOR
See Figure 4 - 5.
WARNING:
The line cut-off blade on the grass deector is sharp.
Avoid contact with the blade. Failure to avoid contact
can result in serious personal injury.
NOTICE:
Failure to attach the grass deector prevents the line
being cut to the proper length and can cause tool failure.
 Remove the screw from the trimmer head and keep aside.
 Fit the grass deector into the slots on trimmer head,
attaching the front slot rst as shown.
 Hold the back of the deector in place and line up the
screw hole in the grass deector with the hole in the
trimmer head.
 Reinstall the screw and tighten by turning clockwise with
a Phillips screwdriver.
 Remove protective tape from line cut-off blade.
NOTE: Wear gloves when working with the cut-off blade.
OPERATION
WARNING:
Do not allow familiarity with products to make you care-
less. Remember that a careless fraction of a second is
sufcient to inict serious injury.
WARNING:
Always wear eye protection with side shields marked to
comply with ANSI Z87.1. Failure to do so could result in
objects being thrown into your eyes resulting in possible
serious injury.
WARNING:
Never use blades, ailing devices, wire, or rope on this
product. Do not use any attachments or accessories not
recommended by the manufacturer of this product. The
use of attachments or accessories not recommended
can result in serious personal injury.
NOTICE:
Before each use, inspect the entire product for damaged,
missing, or loose parts such as screws, nuts, bolts, caps,
etc. Tighten securely all fasteners and caps and do not
operate this product until all missing or damaged parts
are replaced. Please contact customer service or an
authorized service center for assistance.
