Overview

This document describes the "E'clipse Détection" alarm security system, also known as the "Watchdog barking sound" system. It consists of two main components: an infrared PIR (Passive Infrared) sensor with a built-in transmitter and an ON/OFF button, and a 2-in-1 sound and light receiver with button selectors.

Function Description:

The core function of this system is to detect motion and provide an alert. The infrared PIR sensor detects the presence of a person within its sensing area and transmits a signal to the sound and light receiver. Upon receiving this signal, the receiver activates an alarm, which can be a sound, a flashing blue light, or a combination of both. The system is designed for security purposes, offering a "Watchdog barking sound" as one of its alert options. It can be used to monitor an area and warn of intruders.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Voltage - Amperage: 4.5 Volts
  • Power: The PIR sensor uses 3 x AAA LR03 batteries, and the sound and light receiver uses 3 x AA LR06 batteries or can be powered by DC 5V. Batteries are not included.
  • Dust / Moisture Resistance: NOP (Not specified, but the sensor is guaranteed to be IP44, meaning it is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and splashing water from any direction. However, installation under cover is advised for outdoor use.)
  • Frequency: 433 Mhz. This is the radio frequency used for communication between the sensor and the receiver.

Usage Features:

Installation and Synchronization:

  1. Battery Compartment Access: Remove the battery compartment cover from both the sensor and the receiver.
  2. Synchronization: Use the included flathead screwdriver to adjust small dials on each device. The letters and numbers on these dials must be set identically on both the sensor and the receiver for them to synchronize. For example, if the first dial is set to 'P' and the second dial to '16' on the sensor, the receiver must also be set to 'P' and '16'.
  3. Battery Insertion: Once synchronized, insert batteries, ensuring correct polarity. AAA-LR03 batteries are for the PIR sensor, and AA-LR06 batteries are for the sound and light receiver.
  4. Sensor Installation: The infrared PIR sensor is intended for outdoor installation, preferably under cover despite its IP44 rating. It can be fixed using double-sided adhesive or screws. A fastening base is provided for mounting on an external wall, beam, or window. The sensor slides down onto this base.
  5. Receiver Placement: The sound and light receiver can be placed on a shelf or fixed to a wall using a screw. It is designed to be positioned inside the home.

Operation:

  • Detection: The infrared PIR sensor covers the space in front of it. When someone enters this space, the sensor detects their presence and sends a signal to the sound and light receiver.
  • Alerts: The receiver provides warnings based on the switch position:
    • Sound signal: Offers 4 optional sound effects: Dingdong, Welcome, Simons, Beep, Alarm sound, Dog barking 1, Dog barking 2, and Dog barking 3.
    • Light signal only: A flashing blue light.
    • Sound + light: Both sound and flashing blue light simultaneously.
  • Sound Selection: The sound selection is operated by a dedicated button (indicated by a musical note icon). Each press of this button cycles through the available sound effects.
  • Volume Adjustment: The volume can be adjusted using a separate button (indicated by a series of vertical bars). There are 4 sound levels; each press increases the volume, and after reaching the maximum, it returns to the minimum.
  • Activation/Deactivation: The system can be easily activated and deactivated using the ON/OFF button located on the PIR sensor.

Detection Angle and Coverage:

The sensing surface of the sensor can be adjusted using removable covers:

  • Without any cover: The perception angle is approximately 110°, with a coverage distance ranging from 0 to 7 meters between the person and the sensor.
  • With one side cover: Clipping a side cover onto the sensor reduces the angle to about 80°, maintaining a coverage distance of 0 to 7 meters.
  • With two covers (one on each side): The angle is further reduced to about 30°, with a coverage distance of 0 to 7 meters.

Warning for Small Animals:

To avoid detecting small animals, the vertical detection angle is about 15°. Users are advised to position the sensor accordingly and test its inclination to ensure optimal performance and prevent false alarms from pets.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Replacement: If the sound from the receiver begins to decrease or the light becomes dimmer, it is recommended to change the batteries in both the sensor and the receiver.
  • Signal Delay: After the external sensor detects motion, there is a 7-second delay before it can send another signal. This is an important consideration for system response.

Expandability:

The "Eclipse Detection / Watchdog" security system is expandable. Users can add auxiliary transmitter sensors to protect larger areas or additional openings. These new accessories are synchronized in the same way as the original components. The distributor, "L'Homme Moderne," can provide these accessories.

FCC Compliance:

The device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules, meaning its operation is subject to two conditions: it must not cause harmful interference, and it must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Users are warned that changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void their authority to operate the equipment. The manual also provides guidance on how to correct potential interference issues, such as reorienting antennas, increasing separation between equipment, or consulting a technician.
