Units are not battery chargers and should not be connected directly to a battery for charging purposes.
Units are designed for negative grounded systems only. Do not connect to positive grounded systems.
Input and output sides share a common negative ground, meaning no isolation between them.
Units are protected by current limiting. Output voltage drops when current limit is reached and resets when overload is removed.
Current limit decreases as the temperature of the main switching MOSFET increases.
A crowbar circuit activates and blows input fuse if output voltage exceeds 16.5 V +/-0.5 V.
Input protected by a TVS. Input fuse blows if voltage exceeds 37 VDC.
Input fuse blows if input side polarity is reversed.
Install in cool, dry, ventilated space (ambient temp. max 40°C). Do not install in engine compartment. Avoid live connections.
Use suitable fast blow fuses on positive input wire (within 18 in of battery) and output +13.8V terminal.
Use proper size input/output wires to prevent voltage drop. Lower AWG means thicker wire. Use multi-stranded copper wire rated for 90°C.
Ensure correct polarity. Connect output to load, then unit. Connect input to unit, then battery. Insert fuses and switch on power.
