Change the lock screen
The lock screen isn’t just a screen that appears when your handset
has timed out; it can also provide you with some very useful
functions. On the Galaxy S5, you can set it to display lots of dif erent
kinds of information, including a clock, weather data and a rolling
‘ticker’ of information from sources like Facebook.
The lock screen can open directly into i ve dif erent applications
– what they are is up to you (Fig 3). This is one of the best shortcuts
you can set up. If you frequently pick up your Galaxy device to make
a phone call, check your email, tweet, take a photo and so on, the
chances are that you can put a shortcut to the relevan t app on the
lock screen and get there in an instant.
