Do you have a question about the Samwon ENG SU-105 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The SAMWON ENG SU-105 is an instrument designed for automatic temperature control, offering both On/Off and Proportional-Integral (PI) control methods. It supports various sensor types, including K-type and T-type thermocouples, Pt100 Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs), and IC sensors, making it versatile for a range of temperature monitoring and control applications.

Function Description:

The primary function of the SU-105 is to maintain a desired temperature by controlling external heating or cooling elements. It achieves this through two main control modes:

  • On/Off Control: This mode simply switches the output on or off based on whether the current temperature is above or below the setpoint, with an adjustable hysteresis (dIF) from 0.1 to 25.0°C. It also includes an ON Delay Timer (dLt) adjustable from 0 to 300 seconds, allowing for delayed activation of the output.
  • PI Control: This advanced mode uses proportional (P) and integral (I) compensation to achieve more precise temperature control, minimizing overshoot and steady-state errors. The proportional band is adjustable from 0.1 to 50.0, and the integral compensation helps eliminate offsets. A Period Timer (tYP) from 1 to 120 seconds determines the ON/OFF period for relay output.

The device features two outputs: a Main Output and an Auxiliary Output. The Main Output is dedicated to temperature control (heating or cooling), while the Auxiliary Output can be configured for either Alarm Output or Period Timer Output.

Alarm Output (Auxiliary Output): When configured as an alarm, it can activate based on a separate set temperature (SV2) and a differential range (dF2) from 0.1 to 25.0. It also includes a delay timer (dt2) from 0 to 300 seconds and can be set for heating (H) or cooling (C) direction. This allows for alerts or secondary control actions when the temperature deviates from a specific range.

Period Timer Output (Auxiliary Output): When configured as a period timer, it allows for scheduled ON/OFF cycles. Users can set the time unit (minutes or seconds), the initial output state (ON or OFF), and the ON (ton) and OFF (toF) durations, ranging from 0 to 999. A value of 0 for ton or toF signifies a continuous state. This is useful for applications requiring timed operations independent of temperature.

PRESET OUT Feature: This is a safety feature designed for TH, IC, HUM, and A sensors. In case of a sensor error during operation, it prevents immediate shutdown and instead levels the output value based on prior output data. This helps minimize damage and ensures a more graceful failure mode. It operates only in On/Off control mode, with On/Off times within 1 second/18 hours on average, and recalibrates every 30 outputs.
