CHASSIS
The high torsional rigidity of iA’s chassis
contributes to handling performance and
precise steering. And with a high-strength body
structure, agility is engineered in, not just
added on using stiffer springs and shocks. The
high-strength structure is also a foundation
for safety.
STEERING
iA has a sport-tuned Electric Power Steering
(EPS) system that delivers precise steering, a
quick steering ratio, and less boost for more
road feel. The steering rack is solid-mounted
to the vehicle subframe, which increases
rigidity and linearity. Steering tuning is more in
line with a sport sedan than an economy car.
SUSPENSION
The MacPherson strut front suspension and
torsion beam rear suspension are tuned for a
balance of sporty handling and ride comfort
not normally associated with this segment.
BRAKES
iA provides progressive braking feel when
cornering. Entering the curve, the pedal
provides smooth operation then progresses
to a more rigid feel as G-force rises.

TRANSMISSION
The low friction, compact and
lightweight six-speed manual
transmission has a short stroke
for shorter throws and a crisp,
precise shift feel.
6-SPEED AUTOMATIC
TRANSMISSION
The lightweight, low friction
six-speed automatic transmission
delivers a smooth, powerful
standing start. Torque converter
lock-up can happen as low as
5 mph in first gear for improved
fuel economy, quicker acceleration
and more direct shifts. In fact,
acceleration feels equivalent to
a 1.8L engine and six-speed
manual transmission.
Sport mode delivers an even more
engaging experience by adjusting
throttle response and increasing
shift points for quicker initial
acceleration.
