•The re service will undertake any further rescue
attempts. Do NOT go back into the burning building.
How to reduce fire hazard
•Donotleaveammablematerialsexposed.
•Open res (e.g. replaces and ovens) are particular
safety hazards. Use a metal grille to protect yourself
from flying sparks. Use a fire-resistant glass floor plate
if there is wooden flooring or carpets. Clean chimneys
regularly. Never dispose of hot ash in the dustbin.
•Keepacloseeyeonthepowersupply.Overloadingof
cables will generate an uncontrollable build-up of heat
in the walls of the building.
•Educate your children about re and the dangers it
poses. “Playing with fire” has often been the cause of
open, uncontrollable house fires.
•Ensurethatyourheatingsystemisservicedregularly.
•Onlyuseapprovedandcertiedproducts.
•Donotsmokeinbed.
