Eyewash Station can be used in areas where any person may be exposed to
injurious or corrosive materials and a continuous supply of water is not available. The Sellstrom
®
S90320
Gravit-Eye
®
Eyewash Station is ideal in remote and low trafc areas where protective measures are still needed.
Emergency eyewash stations shall be in unobstructed and accessible locations that require no more than 10
seconds for the injured person to reach. (see ANSI Z358.1-2014 appendix B5) Conforms to ANSI Z358.1-2014 and
provides over 15 minutes of continuous ow.

Emergency Eyewash Station Use

The Gravit-Eye® is approved solely as an emergency eyewash station, requiring maintained water purity.

Installation Guidelines

Station Positioning and Clearance

Position nozzles 33-45 inches high, 6 inches from walls, ensuring proper fluid drainage.

Surface Support Requirements

Surface must support 155 lbs filled weight with a 2:1 safety factor (310 lbs static load).

Wall Mounting Instructions

Use enclosed 'J' bracket, ensure wall construction supports unit weight securely.

Drywall Mounting Restriction

Do not mount into drywall without a wood stud for adequate weight support.

Freezing Protection and Tepid Water

Protect from freezing; deliver tepid water (60-100°F). Consult advisor for chemical reaction temps.

Initial Flow Verification

Activate eyewash for 5 seconds to visually verify flow after installation.

Signage and Lighting

Ensure area has a highly visible sign and is well lit for eyewash accessibility.

Operation Procedures

Initial Cleaning and Filling

Clean and rinse station. Fill with hot water (140F/60C) or hotter before initial use.

Regular Cleaning and Rinsing

Clean and rinse the unit every time it is filled for hygiene.

Water Filling Procedure

Partially fill with potable water, then add bacteriostatic additive before topping up.

Bacteriostatic Additive

Add one 8oz bottle of additive to prevent bacteria growth in the tank.

Filling to Overflow Point

Fill the tank to 1/8-inch below the overflow point.

Cap Installation

Install the cap on top of the station but do not overtighten.

Water Replacement Frequency

Replace water and clean eyewash station at least every six months.

Instruction Adherence

Read and follow all instructions to prevent serious eye damage and vision loss.

Tank Cleaning and Refilling

Clean tank every six months. Refill using hot water (140F/60C) and add bacteriostatic additive.

Inspection Recommendations

Weekly Water Level Check

Inspect weekly for adequate water level. Replace water immediately if particulates or discoloration are found.
