Overview

This document provides a comprehensive guide for the SENCOR SHI 6300GD hair iron, detailing its functions, usage, and maintenance.

General Description and Purpose of Use

The SENCOR SHI 6300GD is a hair iron designed exclusively for straightening, undulating, and styling human hair. It is equipped with interchangeable plates to achieve various styling effects, from smoothing to creating waves. The device features a temperature lock function to prevent accidental changes during styling and an automatic shut-off for safety after 60 minutes of inactivity. The heating surface of the individual plates allows for operating temperatures ranging from 140 °C to 200 °C, catering to different hair types. It is crucial to note that the hair iron must never be used for styling wigs, hairpieces, synthetic hair, or for straightening animal fur.

Safety Instructions

Before using the appliance, it is imperative to read the user's manual thoroughly. The appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and older, and by persons with physical or mental impairments or lack of experience, provided they are properly supervised and informed about safe usage and potential dangers. Children must not play with the appliance, and cleaning and maintenance should not be performed by unsupervised children.

Electrical Safety: Always ensure that the voltage stated on the rating label matches your power socket. Connect the appliance only to a properly grounded socket and avoid using extension cords. Disconnect the power cord by pulling the plug, not the cord itself, to prevent damage. Do not place the power cord over sharp objects, near hot surfaces, or wind it around the appliance. Regularly check the power cord for damage and keep it dry. Never use the appliance with wet hands or feet, or if it is not working correctly, has been damaged, or submerged in water. Do not spray the appliance or its power cord with water, and never submerge it in any liquid. Electrical parts are not user-serviceable; any repairs or adjustments must be performed by an authorized service center to avoid injury and to maintain warranty validity.

Safety During Use: This appliance is designed for household and office use; it is not suitable for industrial environments, outdoors, or rooms with high humidity like laundries or bathrooms. Use only original accessories provided by the manufacturer. Avoid exposing the appliance to direct sunlight, open flames, or heat sources. Store and use it away from flammable or volatile substances. Position the appliance on a clean, dry, horizontal, and stable surface, away from the edge of countertops, tables, or sink drainboards. Do not place items on the appliance or step on it. Avoid using the appliance in excessively dusty environments. Protect the appliance from drops and falling objects. Supervise children and pets when the appliance is in operation. Never leave the appliance unattended while operating. Do not place the operating or still-hot appliance on soft underlays (e.g., carpets, bed linen, towels) or cover it. When children are nearby, exercise increased caution and keep the appliance out of their reach. Do not place paper or plastic items between the arms of the appliance. Prevent contact with skin. Do not carry the appliance when it is hot. Always turn off and disconnect the appliance from the power socket when not in use, before cleaning, or moving it.

Bathroom Use: When using the appliance in the bathroom, always unplug it from the socket after use, as the proximity of water poses a danger even when the appliance is turned off. For additional safety, it is recommended to install a Residual Current Device (RCD) with a maximum current rating of 30 mA in the bathroom's electrical circuit. Consult an electrician for advice.

Application and Usage Features

Turning On and Setting the Temperature:

  1. Connect the iron to a power socket.
  2. Press button A1. The appliance will beep, and the default temperature of 140 °C will flash on the display, indicating that the iron is heating up. Once the temperature is reached, the value will remain steadily lit.
  3. To select other temperatures (140 °C, 160 °C, 180 °C, and 200 °C), repeatedly press button A1.

Temperature Lock Function: This function prevents accidental temperature changes during styling.

  • To activate: Hold down button A1 for longer than 3 seconds. A lock symbol will appear on the display, and the set temperature will be locked, making button A1 unresponsive.
  • To deactivate: Hold down button A1 for longer than 3 seconds. The lock symbol will turn off.

Automatic Shut-Off Function: For safety reasons, if no action is taken (no button pressed) after turning on the iron for 60 minutes, it will automatically turn off. To restart, press button A1. This feature is intended as a safety measure for forgotten turn-offs, not as an intentional method to switch off the iron.

Temperature Depending on Hair Type: The appropriate temperature for straightening hair depends on its structure. Incorrect temperature selection can dry out, make hair brittle, or even burn it. Always start with a low temperature and increase it only if necessary.

  • Fine, damaged, discoloured, highlighted or dyed hair: 140 °C to 160 °C
  • Normal, lightly wavy hair: 160 °C to 180 °C
  • Very heavy, curly, unyielding hair: 180 °C to 200 °C

Removing and Inserting the Plates:

  1. Slide the lock button A8 towards the unlocked symbol and hold it in position.
  2. Slide the cover A7 out of the arm and release the lock button. The button will automatically slide to the locked symbol.
  3. Take out the current plate and slide a new plate onto the heating surface A6.
  4. Slide the cover A7 back onto the arm until it clicks into place.
  5. Repeat this procedure for the second arm of the iron. Ensure only the same plate types are inserted into the arms.

Procedure for Styling Hair:

  1. Wash your hair thoroughly, dry it completely, and brush it to ensure it is smooth and knot-free.
  2. Separate the prepared hair into equally wide strands (about 5 cm wide) using clips.
  3. Start ironing the back of the head, beginning with the lower strands. Place a strand of hair between the plates and gently press the handle.
  4. With a sliding motion, pull the iron all the way to the ends of the hair.
  5. Repeat this procedure for the same strand until the desired appearance is achieved.
  6. Continue with the remaining strands of hair, starting from the front of the head and finishing at the sides.
  7. Before final combing, allow the hair to cool down completely.

Important Styling Notes:

  • Do not touch the ironing plates or attachments while hot to avoid burns.
  • Do not leave the iron in one spot for longer than 5 seconds to prevent hair damage.
  • Use the iron only on healthy hair. Avoid using it on oily, stuck-together, or sweaty hair. Use it infrequently on permed or colored hair.
  • Adjust the speed of iron movement based on hair character; fine hair is more sensitive to heat and requires a shorter ironing time than stronger hair.

Turning Off the Iron:

  1. After styling, turn off the iron by pressing button A1 until the display turns off and a beep sounds.
  2. Disconnect the iron from the power socket.
  3. Allow the iron and plates to cool down completely before storing.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning and Maintenance:

  • Always clean the ironing plates and styling plates only after they have fully cooled down.
  • Never submerge any part of the iron in water or wash it under running water.
  • To clean the exterior parts of the iron and the ironing plates, use a fine cloth dampened with lukewarm water.
  • Do not use aggressive cleaning agents, paint thinners, or solvents, as these can damage the product's surface.
  • The surface of the iron plates does not require further cleaning.
  • Before storing or using again, ensure all parts are completely dry or wipe them dry.

Storage: When the iron is not in use for an extended period:

  • Clean the iron as described in the "Cleaning and Maintenance" section.
  • Store the iron in a safe, dust-free, clean, and dry place, out of reach of children.
  • To secure the arms against opening, press button A2.

Troubleshooting

If "888" appears on the display, it indicates a malfunction of the heat sensor or the iron. In this event, disconnect the iron from the power grid and contact a service center.
