Do you have a question about the Sencor SSI 6110GD and is the answer not in the manual?
This document serves as the user manual for the Sencor SSI 6100GR / SSI 6110GD Steam Iron, providing essential information for its safe and effective operation, maintenance, and disposal.
Before using the appliance, it is crucial to read and understand all safety instructions. This iron can be used by children aged 8 and above, as well as individuals with physical or mental impairments or lack of experience, provided they are supervised and informed about safe usage and potential dangers. Children must not play with the appliance, and cleaning and maintenance should not be performed by unsupervised children.
If the power cord is damaged, it must be repaired by a professional service center to prevent hazards; never use the appliance with a damaged cord. The iron should never be left unattended when connected to a power socket. Always disconnect the iron from the power socket when not in use, when filling or emptying the water tank, or when leaving it unsupervised. Ensure the steam function is turned off before disconnecting the iron.
The water tank lid must remain closed during ironing. Refer to the relevant chapter for instructions on refilling the water tank. The iron must always be used and placed on a stable, even surface. If the iron has fallen, shows visible signs of damage, or is leaking, it must not be used. Keep the iron out of reach of children under 8 years old when it is connected to mains electricity or cooling down. The surfaces of the iron can become very hot during use, so exercise caution.
Before connecting the iron, verify that the voltage indicated on its rating label matches your power socket's voltage. Always connect the iron to a properly grounded socket and avoid using an extension cord. Do not handle the iron with wet or damp hands when it is plugged in. To prevent electric shock, never clean the iron under running water, spray it with water, or submerge it in any liquid. Ensure the power cord does not come into contact with water, moisture, or heated surfaces. Avoid placing heavy items on the power cord and ensure it does not hang over table edges or touch hot/sharp objects. Disconnect the iron by gently pulling the plug, not the cord itself, to prevent damage. Never pull or carry the iron by its power cord. Do not attempt to repair or modify the iron yourself; all repairs must be performed by an authorized service center to avoid voiding your warranty and risking injury. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a professional service center.
This iron is designed for domestic use only and should not be used in industrial or outdoor settings. Do not place the iron on or near electric or gas stoves or other heat sources. Never iron clothes while wearing them. Avoid touching the hot ironing surfaces to prevent burns. Always use the provided container to fill the water tank; never fill it directly under a tap. Do not add vinegar, descaling agents, or other additives to the water tank. Allow the soleplate to cool down before cleaning or handling the iron after disconnecting it from the power socket.
The iron features a handle (A1), a water spraying button (A2), and a steam impulse button (A3). The steam release regulator (A4) allows adjustment from "steam release off" to "steam release on full." Other components include a water tank cap (A5), a water spraying nozzle (A6), an ironing soleplate (A7), and a swivel power cord end (A8) designed to limit twisting and tangling. The iron also has a heating indicator (A9), a stand (A10), a temperature control knob (A11), a SelfClean button (A12) for removing limescale, a transparent water tank (A13), and a water tank filling container (A14).
Before initial use, remove all packaging materials, including promotional stickers and labels. Wipe the soleplate with a lightly dampened cloth and then dry it. Clean the outer parts of the iron with a dry or lightly dampened cloth and then wipe dry. Never submerge the iron in water or any other liquid.
The iron is designed for use with tap water. However, in areas with hard or very hard water, limescale deposits can form quickly. To prolong the iron's lifespan, it is recommended to mix tap water with distilled water. The suggested ratios are: 1:1 for medium hard water, 2:1 for hard water, and 3:1 for very hard water. Your local water utility can provide information on water hardness in your area. Never add water softeners, vinegar, starch, descaling agents, perfumes, or other additives to the water.
Before filling, ensure the iron is disconnected from the power socket and the steam release regulator is set to the "steam output off" position. Use the included container to fill the water tank. Flip open the cap of the filling opening, tilt the iron slightly, and slowly pour water into the tank. Do not exceed the maximum water level mark. To accurately assess the water level, the iron should be in an upright position. After filling, close the lid and place the iron upright. If any water spills during filling, thoroughly dry the iron.
When setting the temperature, consider the textile's material composition. It is advisable to sort laundry according to international textile symbols or manufacturer recommendations. The number of dots on the textile symbol corresponds to the number of dots on the temperature control knob.
The iron supports continuous steaming for corduroy, cotton, denim, and linen, and for fabrics with a mix of cotton, silk, or wool. It does not support continuous steaming for synthetic fabrics (acrylic, acetate, polyester, viscose, etc.). Steam boost is available for corduroy, cotton, denim, and linen, and for fabrics with a mix of cotton, silk, or wool. Spraying is available for all fabric types except those that should not be ironed.
Connect the power cord to a power socket. Turn the temperature control knob to the desired setting. The heating indicator will illuminate, signifying that the iron is heating up. Once the iron reaches the correct temperature, the indicator will turn off, and the iron is ready for use. The heating indicator will turn on and off spontaneously during use, which is normal. If the temperature control knob was not set to MIN after previous use, the heating indicator will light up immediately upon plugging in the power cord.
This function allows the iron to be used with or without water in the tank, but the steam release regulator must be set to the "steam output off" position.
To iron with steam, the water tank must be filled. When used for the first time, the iron may emit non-toxic smoke and make noises from expanding plastics, which is normal and will cease after a short period.
For steam ironing, slide the steam release regulator from "off" to "full" position. Adjust the regulator based on the desired steam intensity; moving it further right increases intensity. Wait until the heating indicator turns off. The steam release regulator can be adjusted at any time during ironing. For standard ironing, the middle settings are recommended. For linen, strong silk, or similar fabrics, set the regulator to maximum. The iron continuously emits steam only when moving. When placing the iron in a vertical position, it is recommended to turn off the steam output using the regulator. Setting the steam release regulator to "off" deactivates the steam function.
Use this function when continuous steam is insufficient. Press the steam impulse button to generate a strong burst of steam, effective for very crumpled textiles. Wait at least 3 seconds before pressing the button again. If the heating indicator flashes, wait until it turns off before pressing. The steam impulse function can also be used for vertical steaming of hanging textiles (e.g., curtains, garments on coat hangers). Gently tension the fabric with one hand and move the iron vertically from bottom to top. Press the steam impulse button to achieve vertical bursts of steam. Do not hold the button continuously or use it more than 10 times consecutively. Do not use the steam function for silk and synthetics to avoid damaging the fabric.
The water spraying function can be used with any ironing method to moisten fabric and effectively help with heavily crumpled textiles. Ensure there is sufficient water in the tank and turn the iron so its front side points towards the desired spray location. Press the water spraying button, and water will spray from the nozzle on the front side. When using the water spraying function for the first time or after a long period of disuse, it may be necessary to press the button several times for the nozzle to work correctly.
The iron is equipped with a Drip-Stop system, which automatically halts water supply if the set temperature is too low for steam generation, preventing hot water from dripping out of the steam outlets.
This iron includes a permanent Anti-Calc filter that limits limescale deposits inside the iron. This filter cannot be deactivated, and its effectiveness depends on the hardness of the water used.
Stand the iron upright and set the steam release regulator to "off." Set the temperature control knob to the MIN position. Disconnect the power cord from the power socket and allow the soleplate to cool down. Clean the iron according to the instructions in the Cleaning and Maintenance chapter.
When ironing blended materials (e.g., 40% wool and 60% synthetic), set the temperature according to the material that requires a lower temperature. If the fabric composition is unknown, identify the suitable temperature by ironing a piece of the fabric from the underside. Start with a low temperature and gradually increase until the ideal temperature is achieved. Never iron over sweat marks or other stains, as high temperatures can fix them, making them difficult to remove. To prevent silk, wool, and synthetic fabrics from becoming shiny, iron them from the underside. Some materials are easier to iron when lightly damp. Spray fine fabrics before ironing or iron them under a lightly dampened wiping cloth.
Before cleaning, the iron must be disconnected from the power socket and cooled down. Do not submerge the iron in water when cleaning it. Open the water tank cap and empty any remaining water over a sink. Close the cap. If the soleplate or surface of the iron is dirty, wipe it with a lightly dampened cloth and then dry. Do not use steel wool, solvents, or abrasive cleaning products, as they can damage the surface.
The iron is equipped with a self-cleaning function to remove limescale deposits from the inner part of the soleplate. Use this function regularly, at least once every 14 days. Fill the water tank with clean water up to the maximum level. Connect the iron to a power socket and set the temperature control knob to the MAX position. Wait until the heating indicator turns off, then disconnect the iron.
Hold the iron horizontally above a sink. Press and hold the A12 (Self clean) button. Steam and hot water will be released from the soleplate, removing limescale deposits from the inner parts. Tilt the iron from side to side several times until the water tank is completely empty. Release the A12 button. This process can be repeated if necessary.
Connect the iron to a power socket and allow it to heat up to maximum temperature to dry out the soleplate. Iron over a piece of unneeded fabric to remove any water stains that may have formed during cleaning. Unplug the iron and allow it to cool down.
After ironing, pour out any unused water from the tank (if hot, allow it to evaporate) or allow the iron to cool down. Set the steam release regulator to "off." Wind the power cord around the stand, ensuring it does not touch the soleplate, and place the iron on the stand A10. Keep the stored iron away from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, and excessive humidity. Do not store it in an overly dusty environment or place anything on top of the stored iron.
