This document serves as the user manual for the Servis WL714HDW Washing Machine, a front-loading appliance designed for domestic use. The manual covers installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, aiming to provide users with comprehensive guidance for optimal performance and longevity of the machine.
Function Description
The Servis WL714HDW Washing Machine is designed to wash machine-washable items, including textiles, hand-washable wool, wool blend fabrics, satin, lace, silk, and other hand-washable garments. It incorporates HydroDrive technology, which enables a rapid 12-minute wash program by pumping water and detergent into the drum through two nozzles, rather than a single traditional one. This technology aims to reduce energy usage and water consumption. The machine features a variety of pre-set programs tailored for different laundry types and soil levels, from day-to-day washing to heavily soiled and delicate items. Additional functions like Rinse Hold, Extra Rinse, Soak, and Easy Ironing are available to customize wash cycles. The machine also includes a child lock feature to prevent accidental operation and a built-in fault detection system that displays error codes for troubleshooting.

Usage Features
The washing machine's control panel includes a Programme Dial for selecting wash programs, a Mode Button for accessing temperature and program start time options, an Electronic Display for showing program status (hours until start, time left, program end, temperature setting, errors), and a Select Button for setting temperature and start time. A Spin Speed Selector allows adjustment of spin speed from 400 to 1400 rpm, with automatic override if unsuitable for the selected program.
- First Wash: Before initial use, transit bolts must be removed, and the machine connected to water and power supplies. A first wash without laundry, using half a measuring cup of all-purpose detergent on program 1 (White cotton at 95°C), is recommended to clear any residual water from factory tests.
- Laundry Preparation: Users are advised to empty pockets, brush off sand/dirt, turn items inside out, remove weights from curtains, and secure loose wiring in bras/collars.
- Sorting Laundry: Separate whites and colours, wash dark textiles separately multiple times initially, follow care labels, and avoid washing non-washable items. Pre-treat badly soiled or stained areas.
- Loading the Drum: Load items loosely, mixing large and small items for even distribution during spinning. Do not exceed maximum load capacity to prevent poor wash results and creasing.
- Detergent Addition: Use appropriate amounts of detergent for automatic washing machines. Too little detergent can lead to poor wash results, grey/stiff laundry, fat spots, and limescale. Too much detergent can cause excessive foam and increased water consumption. Liquid detergents can be used in all programs without pre-wash by sliding the fluid detergent level plate into compartment II.
- Water Softener: Can be used in hard water areas, added after detergent.
- Fabric Conditioners and Liquid Starch: Pour into the compartment of the detergent drawer, ensuring not to exceed the MAX level.
- Programme Selection: Turn the Programme Dial to the desired program. Programs can be cancelled by pressing the Start/Pause button for 4 seconds, which initiates a drain operation.
- Temperature Adjustment: The electronic display shows the default wash temperature, which can be reduced by pressing the Select button. Cold water wash is indicated by 'C'.
- Programme Start Time: The start time can be delayed for up to 23 hours using the Mode and Select buttons.
- Indicator Lamps: Show the current wash stage (pre-wash, wash, rinse, spin and drain).
- Pause/Resume: The Start/Pause button allows pausing and resuming of a program.
- Program End: The machine automatically stops, and the electronic display shows 'End'.
- Removing Laundry: Turn the dial to '0', wait 2 minutes for the door lock to release, open the door, remove laundry, and check the drum/door seal for small articles. Leave the door open to dry.
- Child Lock: Activated by pressing the Rinse Hold and Extra Rinse buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds, indicated by '0-n' on the display. Deactivated by pressing the same buttons for 3 seconds.
- Power Supply Failure: The program will resume from the same point once power is restored. The door lock releases after 2 minutes. If water is in the machine, drain it first before opening.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for the washing machine's performance. Before any cleaning or maintenance, turn off the mains power supply, remove the plug, and turn off the cold water supply.
- External Casing: Clean with a mild, non-abrasive cleaning agent or soap and water, then wipe dry with a soft cloth. Avoid solvents, abrasive cleaners, glass cleaners, or all-purpose cleaning agents.
- Drum: Clean with a suitable stainless steel cleaning agent, following manufacturer's instructions.
- Extra Cleaning: To prevent deposits from low-temperature washing, run a hot wash (70°C or above) with detergent and no laundry every 6 weeks.
- Water Inlet Filters: Clean when the machine receives insufficient water. Unscrew the angled end of the fill hose, then use long-nosed pliers to pull out the filter from the inlet valve. Clean with a soft brush, soapy water, and rinse thoroughly. Re-insert and tighten. The second filter in the tap end of the hose can be cleaned similarly.
- Pump Filter: Located behind a cover on the front lower-right corner. Clean every 2-3 months. Place a container under the cover to collect water. Pull the cover forwards, loosen the filter by turning anti-clockwise, and remove. Wait for water to drain. Remove foreign materials, check pump rotation, and clean with a soft brush. Re-fit by inserting and turning clockwise, then close the cover. Wait for the water to cool if it's hot.
- Detergent Drawer: Remove regularly to clean accumulated residue. Pull the drawer fully, press down on the siphon lid, and pull the drawer from its housing. Clean with water and a soft brush. Remove any residue from the drawer housing carefully. Dry thoroughly before sliding back into place.
- Siphon Plug: Located in the detergent drawer. Remove by pulling upwards, clean with a soft brush, and replace firmly.
The manual also includes a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common issues like the machine not operating, not receiving water, not draining, vibrating, or excessive foam, along with an automatic detection system that displays error codes for more specific faults. It also provides guidance on clothing care symbols and stain removal.
