Descaling instructions
∙ Depending on the water quality (lime content) in your
area as well as the frequency of use, all thermal
household appliances using hot water need descaling
(i.e. removal of lime deposits) on a regular basis to
ensure proper functioning.
∙ Any warranty claim will be null and void if the
appliance malfunctions because of insufcient
descaling.
∙ The button starts ashing when the unit needs
descaling.
∙ Descaling must not be done right away, but should be
done soonest.
∙ Vinegar concentrate or a commercially available
descaler may be used.
∙ Fill the water container to the max marking with
descaling solution or water mixed with 70 ml of
concentrated vinegar.
∙ Fit the lter holder with a lter insert, but without any
coffee.
∙ Place a suitable container with a capacity of at least
1.1 L underneath the boiler outlet, and a second
container underneath the panarello.
∙ Enter the Change factory settings mode (see Change
factory settings).
∙ Set the rotary control to to enter the Descaling
mode. The buttons
and alternate, ashing
slowly.
∙ Press . Descaling starts and will last for about 25
minutes.
∙ Turn the rotary control to after around 15 seconds.
∙ Once the water container is half empty, set the rotary
control back to
for around 10 seconds.
∙ Repeat the procedure after around 5 minutes.
∙ Should the container be empty before descaling is
complete, replenish with tap water.
∙ Once descaling is complete, three beep signals are
heard and starts ashing. Empty, rinse and then
re-ll the water container up to the max marking with
fresh water and press . A three-minute ushing
phase follows. During this phase, briey set the rotary
control to twice.
∙ Afterwards, briey activate the panarello twice as
described in Dispensing hot water.
∙ Descaling is now complete and the appliance switches
off.
Hint: If the rotary control is still set to position ,
all four buttons are lit. Set the control back to .
The descaling process can only be interrupted by
disconnecting the unit from the mains.
∙ Do not pour descalers into enamelled sinks.
