General information
∙ Depending on the appliance model,
the water container shows one or two
measuringscalestofacilitatellingthe
container with the correct amount of
clean water. The left scale is used for
regular-sized cups of approx.125 ml,
while the right scale is used for smaller
cups. Make sure that the indicated
maximum amount of water is not
exceeded.
∙ Caution: Do not attempt to open the lid
while brewing is in progress: there is a
danger of scalding.
∙ If several consecutive brewing cycles
are required, allow the appliance to cool
down for 5 minutes or so after each
cycle.
∙ Important note:Whenllingthe
appliance with fresh water shortly after
a brewing cycle is completed, there is
a danger of scalding from hot water
or steam escaping through the water
outlet.
Making coffee
∙ Fillingwithwater:
Openthelidandllthecontainerwiththe
required quantity of water.
∙ Insertingthepaperlter:
Opentheswing-outlterandinserta
size-4paperlter,rstfoldingdownthe
perforatedsidesofthelter.
∙ Fillingwithgroundcoffee:
For each regular-sized cup (125 ml), a
measure of about 6 g (= 1½ - 2 teaspoons)
ofmediumornelygroundcoffeewillbe
required.Closetheswing-outlterandthe
lid afterwards.
∙ Preparingthecarafe:
Fit the drip-through lid onto the carafe, and
close it so that the two arrow marks are
facing each other. Place the carafe into
the appliance. If correctly inserted, the lid
will disable the drip-stop mechanism in the
swing-outlterduringthebrewingcycle.
∙ Startingthebrewingcycle:
Put the plug into a suitable wall outlet and
use the On/Off button to turn the coffee
makeron.Theltrationcyclestartsandthe
waterpassesthroughthelter.Shortlyafter
completion of the brewing process, the
appliance switches off automatically.
∙ Removingthecarafe:
Wait until all the water has passed through
thelterbeforethecarafeisremovedfrom
the appliance.
To pour the coffee, turn the lid counter-
clockwise about half a turn so that the
arrow on the lid is aligned with the pouring
spout.
After serving, turn the lid clockwise until the
two arrows are facing each other.
∙ Switchingoffthecoffeemaker:
Always remove the plug from the wall outlet
once brewing is complete.
∙ Interruptingthebrewingcycle:
The brewing cycle can be interrupted by
pressing the On/Off button again.
Heat-retaining carafe
∙ For technical reasons the screw-in lid
does not close hermetically. Therefore
always hold the carafe in an upright
positionwhenlledwithcoffee.
∙ Keeping the coffee hot: A heat-
conserving carafe accumulates heat
