13.5.1 Overview
INFORMATION
Do not use unused EtherCAT
®
interfaces of an EtherCAT
®
slave for engineering pur-
poses. Use only the EtherCAT
®
master interface intended for engineering for this pur-
pose.
Aside from cyclical process data. EtherCAT
®
offers acyclically transmitted parameter
adjustment services. The mailbox gateway of the EtherCAT
®
master performs the fol-
lowing tasks:
• Adding the parameter adjustment services of MOVITOOLS
®
MotionStudio to the
EtherCAT
®
telegrams.
• Forwarding the drive feedback to MOVITOOLS
®
MotionStudio.
The installation of the mailbox gateway and the EtherCAT
®
master can be performed
on one or various devices.
