2. The area of a triangle is one-half the product of the lengths of two sides of
the triangle and the measure of the angle included between those sides.

3. In the second half of the first century A.D., Heron of Alexandria stated the
following formula for the area of any triangle in terms of the lengths of its
sides. It is known as Heron’s formula (or Hero’s formula):
area = [S(S-X)(S-Y)(S-Z)]
where S = (X +Y +Z ).
The first formula for the area of a triangle, area = base • height, can be typed
as A = B•H. Note that the multiplication key × must be pressed between the
base and height to separate the variable names. To access the SOLVER, press
2ndF SOLVER , and press CL to delete any equation on the screen.
Type in the equation A = B • H with the keystrokes: ALPHA A ALPHA
= a/b 1 2 ALPHA B × ALPHA H .
Press 2ndF SOLVER , touch A METHOD, and double touch 1 Equation
to choose the Equation solver. Press ENTER to see the list of variables
for your equation:
