6.3 Aging X-ray Tubes
When using an X-ray tube for the first time, a running-in operation called aging is
required. Perform this aging in any of the following methods. When perform the
aging, close the collimator leaf.
CAUTION
If X-ray exposure is performed without aging, there is a possibility that
X-ray tube unit may cause electric discharge. Since it is aging every day,
please perform X-ray exposure.
1. When using an X-ray tube assembly
for the first time that day:
2. When the X-ray tube assembly
uses a tube voltage of more than 100 kV
NOTE
Perform aging every day if the X-ray tube assembly is used with a tube
voltage of more than 100 kV.
3. After the X-ray tube assembly has been used with a
tube voltage of less than 80 kV, and then when it is
to be used with a voltage of more than 100 kV
Aging 1
Perform exposures successively from Step 1 to the Step for the X-ray
tube voltage to be actually used according to “Table 6-3 Aging
procedures”. If anything abnormal occurs, then go back 2 steps and
perform an exposure there.
Aging 2
Perform exposures successively from Step 3 to the Step with the X-ray
tube voltage to be actually used according to “Table 6-3 Aging
procedures”. If anything abnormal occurs, go back by 2 steps and
perform an exposure there.
