Figure 130: Selection of application situation
4. Material teach-in step 1:
In this step, the transmission of the first material is determined using the selected
beams. The material must be introduced into the beam path for this purpose.
The transmission is then measured using the Refresh button. The beams are
selected manually via the Beam selection field or via the Automatic selectionbut‐
ton. When selecting the beams, inhomogeneities in the material must be taken
into account; for example, partially covered edge beams should not be included in
the evaluation. The beams that clearly represent the material to be detected must
be selected. Areas with very different transmissions (e.g. printing, embossing, ...)
should also be taken into account during beam selection and possibly left out.
Hidden beams are displayed with a signal level of 0% and must not be selected.
Beams that cannot be measured sufficiently because the signal level is too low
are marked in red. The beam energy can be increased using the Powerpushbutton
until the signal level is sufficiently high.
NOTE
The transmission changes according to the position between the sender and
receiver. This is particularly true for materials with a small transmission difference:
The material must always be placed in the same position between the sender
and receiver during teach-in and later during operation.
For the best results, the material must be placed in the light path as close to
the sender as possible.
The necessary transmission difference that two materials must have in order
to be reliably distinguished from each other depends on the transmission
of the two materials and the space between the sender and receiver, see
"Minimum transmission difference for switching thresholds from material
teach-in", page 164.
