Figure 53: Address configuration in SOPAS ET
Baud rate
The MLG-2 supports the function Auto Baud Detection. With this function, the light grid is
set to the baud rate specified by the PROFIBUS DP master.
7.1.2 GSD file
You can use a PROFIBUS configuration program to configure the light grid for your
application. You will need the generic station description (GSD) to do so.
You can download the GSD file at www.sick.com:
1. Enter the seven-digit part number of your MLG-2 directly into the Search field on
the homepage.
2. Click on the relevant search result.
✓
This will take you to all the information and files for your device.
3. Download the GSD file.
4. Integrate the GSD file into the engineering tool for your control.
A generic station description (GSD) contains a description of the properties of a
PROFIBUS device, e.g., the data transmission rate supported by the device or the digital
information the PLC receives from the device and the format of this information.
Replacement description: An MLG-1 (MLGX-XXXXP811) can replaced by a MLGXXN-
XXXXPXXX02 (with FBM-P22). The existing GSD file can continue to be used in the PLC.
NOTE
Only functions from the MLGX-XXXXP811 are available.
The MLGXXN-XXXXPXXX01 (from 2016) will be compatible with MLGX-XXXXP811 with a
fieldbus module (FBM-P12).
NOTE
Please observe replacement document 8020350 (de)/8020351 (en). Can be down‐
loaded at www.sick.com.
If replacement is necessary (FBM-P22), GSD file “sick095B_V1.2” from the MLG-1 can
be used.

This chapter is only relevant for the FBM-P22.
