Function Description

The Siemens 3MT7 series are power contactors designed for switching electrical loads. They are available in various sizes (Size 0 to Size 4) to accommodate different current ratings and applications. The contactors can be used individually or assembled into reversing contactor configurations with appropriate interlock modules. Various accessories, such as auxiliary switches, surge suppressors, and pneumatic timers, can be added to enhance their functionality.

Usage Features

Contactor Assembly:

Basic Mounting: Contactors are typically mounted onto a DIN rail. For Sizes 0, 1, and 2, a simple "CLICK" mechanism secures the contactor. For Sizes 3 and 4, a similar "CLICK" mechanism is used, but the overall dimensions are larger.
Reversing Contactor Assembly:
- Sizes 0, 1, 2: An interlock module (e.g., 3MT7900-1XM01) is inserted between two contactors from the back. The module slides in and is secured by a "PUSH" mechanism.
- Sizes 3, 4: An interlock module (e.g., 3MT7900-1XM03) is inserted between two contactors. The assembly is then mounted onto a DIN rail with a "CLICK" action. Screws (3x M4, 2 Nm) are used to secure the assembly to a mounting plate. For Sizes 3 and 4, an additional screw (1.2 Nm) is used to secure the interlock module.
- Mechanical Interlock (3MT7900-1XE01/02/03): These modules provide mechanical interlocking for reversing applications. They are inserted between two contactors, and a "PUSH" mechanism secures them. For Sizes 3 and 4, the interlock module is mounted on a DIN rail with a "CLICK" action, and then secured with a screw (1.2 Nm).

Auxiliary Switches:

Front Auxiliary Switches (3MH79..0CT10): These modules are attached to the front of the contactor with a "CLICK" mechanism.
Lateral Auxiliary Switches (3MH79..-0CL10): These modules are attached to the side of the contactor with a "CLICK" mechanism. Different models are available for Sizes 0, 1, 2 and Sizes 3, 4.

Surge Suppressor Assembly (3MT79001S..):

Surge suppressors are inserted into designated slots (A1/A2) on the contactor. For Sizes 0, 1, 2, a screw (1.2 Nm) secures the suppressor. For Sizes 3, 4, the suppressor is inserted and secured with a screw (1.2 Nm).

Pneumatic Timer Assembly (3MT79000P..):

Pneumatic timers (e.g., 3MT79000PN10 for ON DELAY, 3MT79000PF10 for OFF DELAY) are mounted on the front of the contactor with a "CLICK" mechanism. They have adjustable time settings.

Maintenance Features

Replacing of Spare Coil (3MT79000L..):

Sizes 0, 1, 2:
1. Unscrew the coil retaining screw (1 Nm).
2. Remove the top housing and pull out the coil.
3. Insert the new coil.
4. Reassemble the top housing and secure with the screw (1 Nm).
Sizes 3, 4:
1. Unscrew the coil retaining screw (4 Nm).
2. Remove the top housing and pull out the coil.
3. Insert the new coil.
4. Reassemble the top housing and secure with the screw (4 Nm).

Replacing of Spare Top Housing (3MT79...-OHA.. to 3MT79..-2HA for Sizes 0, 1, 2; 3MT79...-3HA.. to 3MT79..-4HA for Sizes 3, 4):

Sizes 0, 1, 2:
1. Unscrew the top housing retaining screw (1 Nm).
2. Remove the old top housing.
3. Place the new top housing.
4. Secure with the screw (1 Nm).
Sizes 3, 4:
1. Unscrew the top housing retaining screw (4 Nm).
2. Remove the old top housing.
3. Place the new top housing.
4. Secure with the screw (4 Nm).
