5. Insert the flash card in the replacement CBFC.
6. Activate the system without performing a reload.
7. The system starts up with the saved CDB.
13.2.2 Replacing or upgrading the system software
13.2.2.1 CDB upgrade
The system software provides an automatic upgrade procedure for upgrading customer systems to a
new APS version. During this procedure, the layout of the existing customer database is converted to
the layout of the new APS version. If the new APS contains additional customer data fields, they are
initialized with default values after upgrading.
Changes to the contents of existing CDB data are not converted. This limitation does not apply to
conversions performed with Hicom Assistant E.
13.2.2.2 Flash memory card replacement
The flash memory card is inserted into a PCMCIA drive and can simply be removed while the system
is disconnected from the power supply and replaced by another flash memory card. You should use
only those flash memory cards that have been approved by Siemens AG because the internal layout of
a flash memory card affects the runtime (wait states) and some features (such as APS Transfer and
CDB backup).
13.2.2.3 APS transfer
Function
The APS transfer feature is used to replace the APS in a remote Hicom 150 E system from a service
centre via remote administration and maintenance.
The APS transfer generally takes place via the integrated analog/digital modem with the aid of the
Hicom Assistant E. For production purposes, an APS is divided into independent subsystems. To
minimize the transfer time, the Hicom Assistant E transfers only those subsystems that have been
modified.
Requirements
You will need two applications to implement this feature: an application in the service centre and a
system application on the customer system.
A flash memory card (FMC) or a soldered-in E-Prom in the case of OfficeOne with an adequate
amount of storage capacity is needed in the customer system for performing the APS transfer. The
write-protection switch on the flash memory card should be set to "write enable" (factory default).
At present, the following systems come with sufficient memory for APS transfer: OfficePro,
OfficeCom, OfficeOne.
Flash memory card variants and applications are shown in Table 3-6 on page 3-15.
